I second Super Mario Land 2. Awesome atmosphere and it's pretty tough compared to Mario World too. Got some great ideas in that game. I'm not a pokemon fan so I would sell those, but if you like them you'll have hundreds of hours of entertainment there. They might bring in some money, though!
I don't think the oddworld ports are good, but if you like the series it's a cool collector's item.

Re: GameBoy collection: Keep or Kill?
you have to check and see if the pokemon games have a functional battery.
that will be the dealbreaker in case you want to sell them.
gameboy batteries do wear out after about 10+ years.

Re: GameBoy collection: Keep or Kill?
Thanks to everyone throwing their 2 cents into the hat!
Wow, I guess I'm going to need to give SML2 some much needed attention!
The Pokemon games....I liked them, but they seem to be best when you can play against someone; as after a while the CPU isn't able to combat the likes of anything over 50. On top of that, you can only get some of the creatures by trading, acquisition through previous games, and one of them was a given away at a Nintendo event years ago. I even looked at pokemon stats and types the other day and remembered why I stopped playing the games all of a sudden--bean-counting stats is friggin overwhelming and unnecessary unless you're going to be going against OTHER PEOPLE competitively.
So to hell with Pokemon, I'd much rather have a game that I don't need other games or another Gameboy to play in full.
I remember buying Oddworld 2 as my first game into the series. I remember reading about the PS versions and thinking that they were extremely quirky and they got good reviews and it would transition over the the gameboy. Instead, I wished the game didn't have a fart function and instead break the 4th wall and flip off the player because the game seemed to do just that. That and it never seemed like you made clear progression in the game. I don't even know how many stages it had. It just belted stages at you one after the other.
I'm glad to know that the game is all around hard, I felt like the worst dumbass playing that thing back in high school.
From what it looks like right now. I'm keeping Super Mario Land 2. I still need to play it, but the consensus says I need to keep it out of principle. So I will.
And MAYBE the Pokemon Card Game 2. I'm on the fence on keeping it (the 3 shops I have been to never knew it existed, so it's definitely rare--but it has little to no replay value. Even the most competitive CPU opponent sucks), but if it can nab a pretty penny for it, I might be able to put it towards the Shantae cart I'm got my sights on.
All right, looking at a few more titles of what I SHOULD get. any opinions on these?
- Link's Awakening DX
- Survival Kids
- Dragon Quest 3
- Harvest Moon Series (I wanted to get the SNES cart a while back, but the two used game sources tell me that it's an OK game and not worth it unless I have a hard-on for the series. So how do the 3 GB/GBC carts stack up?)
- Any recommendations from anyone else.

Re: GameBoy collection: Keep or Kill?
Harvest Moon is better on the Super Nintendo. The GB titles do offer a little more content in some areas but I find the SNES game to be a richer experience.

lol.
Is there a more 'stand out' Harvest Moon of the GB titles? Are they worth it?
I haven't played a Harvest Moon title (I'm a terrible retro gamer)
After I received news that I was probably going to Afghanistan again, I've been trying to assemble a decent Gameboy collection and temporarily foregoing the SNES collection for the time being
Re: GameBoy collection: Keep or Kill?
Having 200+ original Game Boy games, I feel like I may be able to offer some suggestions. Do you favor any particular genre? Puzzle, adventure, shooters, etc.?

Yeah, obviously keep SML2. Get rid of the rest.
Of this want list, get Link's Awakening and DQIII. Are you in Japan or something? I'm pretty sure it's called Dragon Warrior III everywhere else. There is also a Dragon Warrior I&II cart.
There are a number of fun shooters on the GB. R-Type I & II, Nemesis (Gradius), Parodius Da!, Twinbee, etc. Some of these are Japan-only. The five Mega Man/Rockman games on the system are all very good. Metroid II is also a must-have. Radar Mission is an incredibly fun Battleship (as in the board game) game. Also, why don't you have Tetris? It is awesome.

Survival Kids is one of my favorite GBC games. I can't recommend it enough. The Final Fantasy Legend/Adventure games (Seiken Densetsu and SaGa) are pretty good as well.
