Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

For the record, the current index they provide on their website isn't entirely accurate. I own a couple of official releases that aren't included on the list, such as the SNES port of Frogger, and there's no mention of the saving system of any of the games.
I agree. I think it's cool that Nintendo did something like this, as it was always a helpful thing to look up when I was curious about a certain system or game I wanted to go back and try.. I remember playing an awful lot of NES when 16-bit was in it's heyday and this book was a godsend!

It's a shame that today, with all the resources and technology available, Nintendo isn't doing a better job of archiving their lists, or supporting older hardware...

I had it as a kid too, but I don't know how I got it because I didn't own the game. Wore the crap out of it just because I loved NES & SNES.

To the OP, that's awesome. Wish I was smart enough to ask for something like that when I was kid. I once wrote Marvel Comics and asked some stupid question like could Venom beat Hulk or something similar. I did get a reply, though, amazingly enough. Wasn't long, but I was just happy that Marvel Comics recognized me in any capacity. I had to be in like 3rd grade.

I remember Nintendo being awesome like that as a kid too. That's really cool that you saved that stuff!

When I was a kid, I somehow came upon a copy of Zelda. Maybe I borrowed it from a school friend, or I got it at a garage sale, I can't remember. Anyway, I heard somewhere, either in a magazine or somewhere (way before the Internet for me) that there was a "map of Hyrule" that you could get. I called Nintendo and ordered 3 times, a Zelda manual, the Hyrule map, and for some reason, a copy of the Super Mario Bros. manual. I got em and was happy with that.

Then, years later, I called to get a subscription to Nintendo Power. I told them my address and name, and the rep said "Oh ok, I see you in here. Looks like you ordered a Zelda Manual, map of Hyrule and a copy of the Super Mario manual, right?" I was blown away! It seemed like an eternity later. It must have been like 5 or 6 years though, if I'm guessing.

For some reason, I remember getting two videos from Nintendo later on too. I got a copy of some Street Fighter II Turbo video, the cassette was purple. Also, when Donkey Kong Country was coming out, I remember I got a promo video in the mail (i think, maybe I got it at Sears, where I reserved it) for DKC. And it was cool, it had some neat gameplay vids, some tips and tricks, etc. But the coolest part was after the credits... You saw the host of the vid sneak into a room where some devs were playing KILLER INSTINCT!! It was clearly staged, but you could see them playing Chief Thunder and maybe Glacius, and they got up and yelled "HEY HEY HEY!! GET OUT!!!" and shut off the camera.

Those were the days man. Thats how they hyped up game releases. Way before Kotaku, or Madmans Cafe, etc. It was awesome!
