House of the Dead series (Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Wii)
The game I play every Halloween while passing out candy
House of the Dead is more enjoyable on the systems that have lightguns that can rapid fire and auto reload. A CRT is required of course. The Wii has better tracking, but I have yet to import the rapid fire remote to see if it works as well with the "machine gun" of the Dreamcast gun.

Take it a step further and haul the CRT outside, get the little trick or treater monsters to try killing the zombies on a Retro setup.

Do they have to kill any zombies before you give them the candy or are you a nice guy, cause I'd totally withhold until they made brain matter fly

^ curious do those guns have recoil?
because that would be great if it did, it would feel more life like and arcady.

 I used the Dreamcast to pass the time, also let any Trick or Treaters have a go. They get candy either way, I throw extra treats in for active participants though. :D

Thanks, yeah a great way to spend time. Better then having to answer the door all night. More fun to game outside at the same time while passing the treats out.

No recoil on the guns, but with the lightup Madcatz Force Pack the gun will vibrate while shooting the bullets. Unfortunate with two lightguns attached, the vibration packs will not work, too much amp draw I guess.

Here is the post from last year:

Tonight is Halloween!

Every year on the last Saturday of the October, the local strip mall sponsors a Halloween themed Car Show. Stupid rain yesterday, I was going to set up Dreamcast House of the Dead along with Lightguns and a Tube TV in the trunk. Weather cleared up too late, so just took the car.

My house is on the end of a small dead end street. We don't get that many Trick or Treaters and my kids outgrew going out. I'm going to drag that TV out tonight, and set it up in the back of the wife's 4runner. Maybe draw more of the little monsters in begging for candy. Should be fun, passing out candy while Lightgunning Zombies! A better atmosphere out in the dark

Glad I kept that spare TV, handy for transportable Lightgun games.

Pretty kick ass set up with HotD2. As much as I'd love to do a similar set-up, those Dreamcast guns are so expensive these days. It's just a lot cheaper to go with HotD2 on Wii and get some of those Nyko guns for it.

Also to add, the Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles game on the Wii would be another good light gun shooter.

I'm starting to think that I should probably have MK9 on the PS3 if only for Freddy, and I should probably do Left4Dead 2 on the Xbox 360. I think those'll be more solid choices.

Also, even though it's not Halloween related, I think I'll be unable to resist having KOFXIII seeing as it's releasing on Oct 25th. The game does have the ability to make your own custom color palettes, though - could always try my hands at making horror-themed character palettes! Elvira Mai, Frankenstein Goro, etc.

I'll have to emu up some Monster in my Pocket as well as Nightmare on Elm Street to see if those'll be good for some old school action as well.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair on PS3 has 4-Player local co-op. That's another to add to the list.
