yeah, I still use mine!

I have the PSone with the screen and sometimes I use it to play RPG's at the same time I watch TV or play movies.

Last Year I got a modded Playstation console for $50 pesos! Thats about $4.25 US! I've already burned about 50 games and have another 20 on my hard drive!

Of course I do have many original games, but there are some imports that would be hard to get anyways.

and yeah if you're lucky you get get a ps1 for pennies now!

I use my ps1 on a separate TV because the image for PS1 games is jumpy on my main tv, whether through my PS1 or 2. But I keep my PS2 on my main TV so its all good. 8)

Yeah I use the PSone to play imports cuz its soft modded and games look pretty good on the sony official LCD attachment. For the most part I perfer to use my PS2 slim 9000 model on PS1 software as it appears to remove slowdown especially on 2D fighters (I'm looking at you MSH and Xvs.SF)

I think it's a good idea to keep a ps1 around, considering there are a handful of games that have problems on ps2 and ps3. These problems range from minor graphical glitches to crashing.

I'm still looking for an early model PS1 with box and manual, locally. But I do still play PS1 games all the time on my PS2. Honestly, it's probably better to play most of them on the PS2 anyway since the games load a little faster and look better/sharper via component cables. But at the same time, I have noticed some graphical artifacts in some games when playing them on PS2 (like AppleQueso mentioned) that are not there when playing them on PS1.

Formula 1 (1996) for example, I see a lot of scan lines and graphical errors on the race track when playing it on the PS2. But on a PS1 they are not there, the track looks smooth/normal.

Just small random stuff like that. But most games run great. Especially older PS1 games

I have a modded PS1 so I can play imports. S-video isn't as good as component obviously, but it still looks pretty good.

I do. Since I have both a PS1 and PS2, it makes more sense to play the PS1 games on the PS1 so the PS2 laser doesn't burn out faster by having to switch between the two different disc-types. And the PS1 start-up music sounds awesome; similar to those old Dolby Surround Sound trailers before a movie in the theater during the 80s and 90s.

Thanks for the feedback. If I do get one which is the best model. I heard the first ones were great but the lens fail is what I read. The psone with the screen would be sweet but now that is getting to be too much money. Please tell me which model to get so I can place the playstation next to my n64 and relive the 90's era. Man that was a sweet era for video gaming from 95-2001. I think it may be better than the snes/genesis well maybe not but it was sweet.

I have 2 of these (well the pal SCPH-7502) as well as a 9002 and 5502 (I think those are the models) plus my psone. I only dust off the old hardware when I want to play an import or iso that I've burned. For all the rest of my ps1 gaming I just use my ps3 because it upscales beautifully on my hdtv's.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
