Yeah the grinding is what put me off. Friends always say the grinding is probably the worst out there and then they say that's what gives it its personality.Xeogred wrote:I've only played tiny bits of a few of them, but yeah I have feeling this franchise might not be for me at all, too grindy. lolD.D.D. wrote:Dragon Quest... StarCraft II is the big one for me. I was a huge WarCraft I-III junkie but I just don't have the initiative to get into an RTS competitively anymore. I'm sure it's an excellent game but I just have no desire to play it at all, even though I feel like I ought to give it a shot.
Lately I've been pretty turned off by turn-based JRPGs too. I can still play RPGs in general though, in fact I've been playing nothing but SRPGs for the past few months, but for some reason JRPGs just can't hold my attention anymore.

I keep seeing wrestling games pop up in "best games ever" discussions (and even mentioned on this site as among the Nintendo 64's defining titles). Oy.

Great topic, tons of games hit the 'best game ever' or 'must play' bucker that I just can't get into.
WoW - Don't want to, touched it with a trial pass, never going back
DMC3 -Dunno why I can't play this one, yet have no issues with DMC4
FF13 - Lost interest after 12, despite people claiming '13 will bring you back'
Persona 3 P. - felt to trimmed down, despite being a fan of the persona series and PSP
EDIT: Ohh oh oh! I just remembered one that should get some fans on my tail *puts on fire suit*-
Okami - Intro was too long

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

People told you that about 13?avrame wrote: FF13 - Lost interest after 12, despite people claiming '13 will bring you back'
How funny, 'cause it drove me away.

Friends from way back when (highschool) who were fans of the original series (FF1 NES). I trust their opinion, but don't seem interested. FFX was my benchmark, and i still believe it can't get better than the run for 7, 8, 9 and 10CFFJR wrote:People told you that about 13?avrame wrote: FF13 - Lost interest after 12, despite people claiming '13 will bring you back'

That's the one with the 20-hour tutorial, right? I'm never touching that one, 20 hours is about as long as I can stay interested in a game.CFFJR wrote:People told you that about 13?avrame wrote: FF13 - Lost interest after 12, despite people claiming '13 will bring you back'

Did not know about that :S just pushed it to the very bottom of my gaming backlog.BoringSupreez wrote:That's the one with the 20-hour tutorial, right? That's correct, or so I've heard. I couldn't handle it for more than a few hours. I certainly never hit anywhere near 20.BoringSupreez wrote:That's the one with the 20-hour tutorial, right? @avrame: Others might disagree with me, but you're not missing much.

Mass Effect 2. I loved the first one (beat it twice), but the second just doesn't hold my interest. It's sort of fun when I'm playing it, but I just get bored after a while. It's just very "wash, rinse, repeat".
