I'm one of those jerkasses who hasn't bought a football game since NFL 2k5.

Excellent - more than explains and I can only respect that - especially coming from a guy that loves the Phils (and those were LEAN years from 86-08) and can appreciate those 1-15 seasons too. I'm also a big Sixers fan - moreso than the Eagles (although I was at the Irvin paralyzed game - but did not boo).dsheinem wrote:I love the Phillies and Flyers but I HATE HATE HATE the fucking Eagles...I should explain...retrosportsgamer wrote:Northeast PA = Cowboys?dsheinem wrote:It would be awesome if we could get a half dozen people together for some online league action on the PS3 version.
I'm claiming the Cowboys now
For shame
When I was 10 my family moved away from southeastern PA, where I was born. My family wasn't big into sports, and though I had become a huge Phillies fan, I was not really into football at all.
We moved to a suburb of Dallas, TX the same year the Cowboys were 1-15. From 10-13 or 14 I lived there and got caught up in the climate of the city, which is die-hard Cowboys. There's not much else like that kind of fandom anywhere, and so an impressionable boy became a Cowboys fan for life when he watched the trio of Aikman/Smith/Irvin come into town and take a 1-15 team to two time Super Bowl champs and the whole city erupt with joy. Those were quite literally the happiest sports memories of my life prior to the Phillies World Series win a few years ago.
So I come by my Cowboys love/Eagles hate quite legitimately, despite the fact that I once again live in PA.

Why do you post things like this??? Go back to Guitar Hero...benderx wrote:I've never owned a madden game and will not buy one. Real men play football outside with real people.
Anyway, I don't really play Madden. I think my newest NFL game is NFL 2K2.

I do, however, buy an NHL game every few years. Not every year, as I don't have the time to really play through the season mode fully. I just like having a fairly modern hockey game to enjoy with friends. I picked up NHL '10 a few months ago for $20. I might by a new NHL game either this year or next year, since the Winnipeg Jets are back. I might wait for NHL '12, since the leagues/divisions will be re-aligned for that season.

I'm pretty much the opposite of this guy. I even have old Madden games for the Turbo Duo (basic port of '93 or '92) and Madden for the 3DO (created from scratch- innovative for its time).benderx wrote:I've never owned a madden game and will not buy one. That said, I'll always be most fond of the NFL 2K run of three games on the dreamcast.

I don't like football. The only sports games I like are the Virtua Tennis, Mario ones, and MLB Slugfest games. They should make a new Slugfest for the PS3. That would be kickass!

Yeah, I actually like the 3DO Madden. I have the Japanese version of it.
It had Japanese voices dubbed OVER the English, so you can actually hear the English in the background. It's idiotic, but also kind of funny.

Re: So what system are we playing Madden on this year?
I am actually a hardcore Madden and NCAA Football gamer. I participate on a site called TraditionSportsOnline and am the content manager there so I write up articles and such for the main page. We organize and participate in onlne franchises and dynasties as to have a sim style community and all that good stuff...
That being said, I think the people who just say it is the same game every year are way off base. That is only basically true for those who don't play the game. Every year they add AI improvements, new game modes, new features, animations, player models etc... It is still simulation football yes, but it is different. It is the same as saying every Zelda or Mario is the same.
