I'm really not trying to be mean to you, but... after living in Japan for years, I can say with confidence that everything you just said is a common myth about Japan. Yes, some of these things are ingrained into their culture in a specific
visible way (put on a good show!), but I can list you hundreds of both historical and personal examples where, at best, Japanese are mearly human like the rest of us.
Still, it is great to see outstanding people like Miyamoto do what he is doing. But, the point is that he is doing that out of the goodness of his heart. Yes, Japanese culture can explain part of it, but you also have people in other countries doing similar things. Mario Lemieux, a very famous and great hockey player, came out of retirement to rejoin his team a number of years ago. He could have demanded one of the top salaries, but instead he choose to take a very average NHL salary.
So, good on people like that, but it is not limited to Japan!
