Sony has always had it right -- up to 5 consoles at a time, which you can authorize and de-authorize at will. Digital downloads done right (for the most part). There are some negatives, like the bs Capcom pulled with the always online DRM, or the fact that you can only have one account at a time active on your PSP (as opposed to multiple accounts on the PS3). (..or the odd publisher pulling their catalogue, but that's not Sony's fault.) I'll take it any day over Nintendo's lousy locked-to-console nonsense, or Microsoft's nonsense where you can't play your games offline. Bah.noiseredux wrote:y'know what I really like? PSN games that are PS3 and PSP compatable. There's kind of this nice value in the fact that I buy one game but can download it to three consoles.
Irem pulling all their games from PSN on 8/11 !!!

I agree totally.

A legitimate concern of purchased downloads support going away. It will happen when any new console gets introduced. Just like PS2 losing network support, my Wii is on marked time of becoming obsolete with the newer WiiU coming out. The reason why I will never purchase a download game.

I hope this is a precursor to a disc-based compilation.
More likely is that the sales weren't high enough to justify whatever they paid to have them available on the service.

that would be great. The Sega Genesis PS3 collection is so amazing. There really needs to be more physical comps like that. There were so many released for PS2, it would be nice to see the tradition continue.dsheinem wrote:I hope this is a precursor to a disc-based compilation.

Agreed. I've barely tapped into Irem shmups, a compilation would be right up my alley.noiseredux wrote:that would be great.dsheinem wrote:I hope this is a precursor to a disc-based compilation.

This will happen to every other download game, for every other service. And since most of them have DRM, once they get taken down, they are gone for good, outside of piracy. People need to stop supporting this bullshit, or we will reach the point where we don't actually own anything. It will all be temporary licenses that can end at any moment.

This made my day. LOLirixith wrote:remember when GOG pretended to shut down? When they came back on, I downloaded everything I own there. Three times. Yeah. That'll show them. I also never spent another dime there either. That'll probably show them more.

I understand yr view, and even semi-agree. But the thing is this, some games i want to play I can't get physically. Turtles In Time Reshelled for instance. I'm a huge TMNT fan, and really wanted to play it. So I had no option. A physical disk doesn't exist. It's sad to say I surrender -- but really if it comes down to DLC or deprive myself of a gaming experience I want to have, then I'm going to just give in. Sure I wish there was a physical copy, but at least I'm having fun playing a game that I wanted to get to play. And as irixith pointed out, PSN's DRM is far more flexible than Wii or XBLA's.Inazuma wrote:This will happen to every other download game, for every other service. Besides, paying $5-$10 for a licensed/DRM'd game is not really a big deal. Think of it like a great price for a long-term rental. As soon as you give up the idea that "if you pay for it you must own it forever" you'll be much happier.
