Re: Darksiders 2 coming in 2012!
What was the third person shooter section? I can't remember that part.

Hope the combat is improved as much as they've been saying. So hard to find a game with good combat these days....course, I'm pretty finicky and picky when it comes to that

Re: Darksiders 2 coming in 2012!
Eh, I'm not liking some of the stuff I'm hearing about this game. Apparently, if you want to acuire all of the various items and weapons in the game you have to play through this stupid crucible mode. It's 100 levels are increasing difficult combat. I'm guessing that means no checkpoints or saves, which means dying after an hour of intense combat and having to start all over again from the beginning
Great for those who like to regularly save our progress because we have actual lives and responsibilities that might pull us away from a game and not allow hour long play sessions with no saves or checkpoints, or those of us who live in areas with frequent power outages
Sounds a lot like the similarly stupid 100 level tower in Devil May Cry 4. I was hoping they wouldn't take the game in this direction, trying waaaaay too hard to make it a super hardcore action game. I'm all for more combat, and I want to see how they've improved the combat system, but having ridiculously annoying challenges like this in the game is just stupid.
Also, how long is this thing? I thought the first game was long enough, and the last dungeon of the game just went on and on and on and on and on..... It sounds like this sequel will be four times as long as the first game. I doubt anyone will stay interested in this game long enough to finish it. Sometimes, less is more. I think they're trying way too hard with this sequel
Oh well, on the plus side I'm glad that they've incorporated something that was sorely lacking in the first game - a new game plus mode. Plus, the idea of playing as Death itself is so ridiculously badass it makes me want to at least try this game.

Re: Darksiders 2 coming in 2012!
So I got the game and played for like an hour or two and it crashed my system. I guess it's true what I've heard about all the bugs and glitches. I didn't know which version to get, but I played the first game on PS3 and the second one unlocks stuff for a complete save file from the first game, so that made the PS3 one seem like a no brainer. Nice unlocks by the way, the weapon they give you has much higher stats than what you start with. I'm hoping the PS3 version is the same or better than the 360 one, as was the case with the first game (it was actually the superior version until the 360 one got patched).
It's kind of cool so far. Like the first game, nothing is original here. So far the game seems very Prince of Persia + Elder Scrolls Skyrim + God of War. The platforming is better than the first game since it borrows so heavily from Prince of Persia. The combat doesn't seem much different so far, but Death is faster than War was and seems much more combo friendly. The finishing moves seem kind of random now. Most guys will just die from repeated attacks by the player. I like the levelling system. It's nice and simple, unlike a lot of rpgs these days. You level up, you put a skill point into something. That's it. Simple. There seems to be two skill trees. Necromancy is the one that grabbed my interest, because it lets you summon undead minions. I really, really like that idea. There's tons of loot to pick up now, which doesn't really do anything for me as I've never been into Diablo, MMORPGs, etc. I'm not oppossed to it either though, as long as the game doesn't end up bogging me down with tons and tons of stuff.
The art design and music so far is fantastic. I guess that really is the only unique thing about these games. It's the aesthetic qualities from Joe Madureira's comic book style.

Also, Michael Wincott is the voice of the protaganist, which is awesome.
