Those parts of the game were great, it's other stuff I had issues with

I liked the ideas behind God Hand, I just had issues with some of the execution of those ideas. I'm not trying to troll though, but I just don't understand why they did certain things.

That silly difficulty changing system, what was the point? Why not let players play on whatever difficulty they are comfortable with? Why did they make everything so random? The item pickups were random, the demon appearances are random, etc. So if you got through an area, it's not necessarily because you're just really good. It may simply be that you got lucky and found a health item and didn't run into any random demon appearances. The fact that luck DOES play a part in your success in the game just seems so wrong to me

Then there's the controls, which is completely subjective. For me, they felt awkward. Never felt intuitive pulling off rapid ducking using the right analog stick. Then there's the graphics, after playing Okami and Viewtiful Joe I can't think of any logical reason for God Hand to be as ugly as it was

I thought God Hand looked great. It's graphics weren't supposed to be artsy, they were supposed to reflect the western, desert wasteland you were supposed to be in.

And I think the randomness plays a part of the fun factor. Even when your luck gets run down, you truly feel a sense of accomplishment by surviving all odds with skill. Of course, it's all opinionated, and the randomness can get annoying sometimes, so I see what you're saying about luck playing a factor. But that's what also drives for improvement, since a good player can survive on skill alone.
