The ISO format should really not be used for CD based games. There's no reason not to use BIN/CUE. For DVDs, ISO is perfectly fine though.

And never any damn Alcohol 120, Nero, Disk Juggler, or any other proprietary garbage.

Well I can almost understand the need for CDI (Diskjuggler). It is said that the CDI format is needed for a self boot Dreamcast image. But what I don't understand is how I can rerip a self boot CDI to BIN/CUE and still have it be self boot (even though I read every where that ripping it to BIN/CUE will break the self boot).

But yeah, Alcohol and Nero are for the birds.

CCD/IMG/SUB/CUE (Clone CD) is a different story though. Proprietary, yes. But apparently you need it to rip some (all?) PS1 games otherwise you'll break the protection (it wont copy correctly - you'll get garbage in your image or at some point during the game you'll get an anti-piracy message). Again, I usually rerip my CCD's to BIN/CUE and have never had a problem. Though I'm guessing you need the CCD format for the initial rip, then a rerip to BIN/CUE wont break anything (or maybe it does and I haven't played the right game). At least this is what I'm guessing, I haven't been able to find a clear answer. So many people pretending to know, the whole truth seems to get lost.

Oh man, that was deep.
