PC version of Final Fantasy VII

it's probably easier to run the PSX emulator and run a FF7 disc image from that then it is to do the PC versions of FF7 or 8

I played Final Fantasy 8 about two years ago on Windows XP. Wasn't very hard.

That last link I listed is an up-to-date compilation of most of the worthwhile mods in a single installer starting from the official update to the latest graphical enhancements made and several selectable music compilations. The size is probably due to the higher quality FMV patch.
Having played through FFVII several times using all the latest enhancements each time, the difference between emulating the PSX version at high res vs the stuff that's done to the PC version is incredible and well worth some extra effort. Even without the remixed graphics the PC version's worth it just because of the better motion capture quality. When you play the PSX version at high resolutions, the 3D stuff wiggles all over the place because the vertexes snap to the original resolution.

My roommate back then was playing the PC version. I thought there were 2 extra bosses? Emarald Weapoon and Diamond Weapon or something?

Just wanted to mention that someone is also in the process of retranlating the game. Itll be playable on PC

This is something that I am quite curious about, since I have been playing Final Fantasy VII as of lately (almost finished) and I remembered that they released it on PC, I am quite curious what are some of the key differences in that version.

Key differences are the graphics and sound.
The graphics are greatly enhanced over the standard PS1 version with bi linear filtering and higher resolution textures.
It's also worth listening to the differences that the midi sound makes to the music.
I completed it not so long ago on the PC for me it was definitely worth the hassle to patch it and play it again.
I compared the PC version to the original PS1 hardware so it was a massive difference to me but others are comparing to emulated PS1 versions with all of the texture enhancements on so of course that way there probably won't be much of a difference.

Diamond is part of the story. Emerald and Ruby were additional bosses added to the US release of the PS1 version of 7, and the PC version also had them.
