I adore horror movies. Even though I seem to be the only one in my circle of friends who enjoy them. I love all the classic series (the originals not the remakes): Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Amityville, Howling, Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Child's Play, Romero's films, etc. I also loved the creature features Critters and Gremlins. I remember the SciFi channel playing the hell out of the Critters franchise in it's younger days. :D I also have When A Stranger Calls, The Hills Have Eyes, and Leprechaun (though I'll admit, I always found that more funny than scary.) And though the scare factor has worn off, I also liked Carpenters The Fly, Carrie and Gothica.

I haven't been really impressed with some of the most recent horror films but I have enjoyed movies like Cloverfield, The Decent, Drag Me To Hell and Audition. Those are the one's that have creeped me out the most. I had high hopes for Saw, but that franchise disappointed me real quick. First one's still good though, even though it's more suspense than horror.

Actually the most recent movies I've liked that are liked to the horror genre are the ones that both emulate and make fun of them. Scream, Slither, Zombieland, and Shawn of the Dead come to mind. Oh! And Dead Alive. I love Dead Alive

Suffice it to say that I look forward to AMC's FearFest every year

I watch a ton of horror movies, words can not describe my love for the genre. I watch anything under the sun in regards to horror, silent, grindhouse, slasher, modern, foreign- you name it, I love it

My favorite horror movies

Re-Animator
Cemetery Man
Suspiria
Psycho
Dracula (Tod Browning)
Feast Trilogy
Session 9
Tale of Two Sisters
Nightmare on Elmstreet
Night of the Demons
Evil Dead
Inside
City of the Living Dead
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie or Living Dead at Manchester Morgue
Stepfather (original)
Audition

I could keep going, but these are the best of the best in my opinion

If you need any suggestions or have any questions let me know :)

I believe we did have a thread about this stuff within the last few months, but that's ok. I find it interesting how many of you go with relatively modern choices in horror, so here's a few old timers for those of you who are really interested in some classics:

Nosferatu
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Phantom of the Opera (the Lon Chaney version)
Frankenstein (1931)
The Bride of Frankenstein
White Zombie
M (hey, I think of it as a horror film)

There's a lot more though that I haven't gotten to watch yet. The Cat and the Canary, the films of Val Lewton, Freaks, The Golem, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Portrait of Dorian Gray, etc. If you want something a little different, check out the 1910 silent film Frankenstein, the first film production of Mary Shelley's work.

Oh, does anybody know if The Conqueror Worm (aka. Witchfinder General) is worth checking out? I really like Vincent Price, and I've heard it's his best role.

Also, more of you should watch Jacob's Ladder.

I tend to watch a lot of horror movies (and play lots of horror games) I'll just list some of my favorites.

Jacob's Ladder (Every horror fan should watch this film...repeatedly)
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (I'm a huge fan of German Expressionism)
Nosferatu
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Evil Dead Trilogy
The House on Haunted Hill
The Killer Shrews (I love this stupid movie)
White Zombie
Metropolis (I'm a sucker for this type of story - huge fan of novels like Brave
New World, Anthem, Farenheit 451, etc.)

I enjoy pretty much any classic film with Lon Chaney, Sr./Jr., Boris Karlof, Vincent Price, or Bela Legosi.

There's countless more I've enjoyed but the ones on the list are the ones that really stick out in my mind.

I figured there was a thread on this topic, I guess I either missed it or didn't look far back enough. This will be the sequel then!

Some good horror flick suggestions IMO:
Hell Night
I Spit on Your Grave
Black Christmas (both original and remake)
Pieces
Strangeland
Trick R' Treat
CreepShow 1 & 2
Deadly Friend
Night of The Creeps
Silent Night Deadly Night
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

YES! Someone else has seen this movie. This is a brutal horror movie that all gore-hounds NEED to see. However both the sequels, as well as the recent remake are complete crap.

One of my favorites, I enjoyed the 2nd one a lot too- anything after that is sub-par

and to Ack- Freaks is awesome you should check it out, although I would consider M to be more of a suspense thriller? thoughts on that one?

I've been occasionally cracking into the Horror Genre for a while. While I do enjoy (a few of) the movies I've watched so far, I don't find any of them scary.

Alien

Alien (Best of the series if you ask me.)

Aliens (I'm not very knowledgeable of movie genres, but I don't really consider this a Horror movie, it's too action-packed.)

Alien 3 (Worst. Piece. Of. Shit. Ever. Made.)

Alien Resurrection (This one isn't as bad as Alien 3. At least the kills are interesting.)

Hardware (I was wrong. This is the worst piece of shit ever. I learns an important lesson from this movie: Just because a movie has a Heavy Metal Star in it, doesn't make it good.)

Predator (Fucking Great. My favorite Ahnuld movie next to The Terminator.)

Predator 2 (Good, but needed Ahnuld)

Predators (Oh ho ho, I see what you did there Fox. Maybe it was because of I had too much to drink, but I found this one nonsensical hard to follow. Deaths were fun, though.)

The Terminator (I know this is often considered an Action Movie, but it comes off as more of a Robo-Horror to me.)

The Thing from Another World (going to get the Carpenter remake from BlockBuster soon)

Honorable Mentions:
Star Wars Prequel Trilogy (Scariest Movies I've ever seen.)
