Re: First game you ever beat
The first I can remember was Bruce Lee on the Apple ][c.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

I believe it was Super Mario World. I never had the patience as a kid to play through the NES Mario games to the end, and I started gaming when the SNES first came out.

Megaman 5 for the NES. I remember thinking it was the hardest game ever because I was only 5 years old when I beat it. Going back and playing it today, it's definitely the easiest of the Classic Megaman games.
Re: First game you ever beat
Hang-On for master system if that counts. It just looped and looped after getting thru the first 4 stages. If that does not count, then it would be Aztec Adventure also for the master system.

that's an accomplishment. The first couple GB games in the series were brutal. I don't think the game got really comfortable to play until IV.
I thought so too, until I played the Megaman X games which were harder. Well harder if you didn't search for the energy tanks and upgrades like I did.
What I was proud of was that I got 100% in Donkey Kong Land 2 and 3 without access to the internet.

I've not played the first, but I thought Mega Man II for gameboy was pretty gentle for the series. You don't even have to face any of the bosses a second time, and Wily was very easy compared to Mega Man or Mega Man 2 on the NES (the only other two Mega Man games I've beaten).
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii
Re: First game you ever beat
I had several Colecovision games that I played to death, but none of them had endings. They just kept repeating themselves. So the first game I beat must have been Super Mario Bros. because it was the first and only NES game I had for awhile. I might have even beaten it before I owned it because I remember staying up all night at a friend's birthday party trying to beat the game. He was the first of us to get an NES and it was that birthday. I remember getting to world 8, but I don't remember if we passed it.
It's also possible that I beat an arcade game first, but my parents didn't like to shell out the quarters, so probably not.

I think mine was Golden Axe... I could've beaten a Nes game before that but I really can't remember.

the first couple I found hard just because I felt the controls weren't perfected yet.
