Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
very cool thread, I never see laser discs anymore
Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
Picked up quite a few more LDs today, here's what I got...
Apollo 13 (widescreen)
Banno Bunka Neko Musume: Phase 0I (Japanese)
Batman (widescreen)
El-Hazard Vol. 1
El-Hazard Vol. 2
El-Hazard Vol. 3
Project A-Ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group (Japanese)
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1995 version)
The Terminator (widescreen)
Terminator 2: Special Edition (widescreen)
Got all of them for a little over $20! I'm also proud to say that I finally found a player on eBay, a Pioneer LD-V2200. It's a little basic and it didn't come with a remote, but it'll work fine for me and it was the cheapest I could find.

I LOVE El-hazard!
Its one of the first anime I ever bought! I've owned it on VHS tape and repurchased it on DVD.

Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
This thread is really making me consider getting an LD player and a CED player in the near future....
Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
Thanks! I've heard quite a bit about El-Hazard and about how good it was, but when I saw those El-Hazard LDs for 95 cents I couldn't resist. The shop I bought them from still has a number of anime LDs, most of them in pretty good shape and for dirt cheap. I think I'll be buying all my LDs there from now on.flojocabron wrote:I LOVE El-hazard!

I've been thinking about getting a CED player as well, but I'm not sure if there's anything I want that's exclusive to the format. Plus I don't know where or if I can find extra styluses. And there's also the fact that CEDs tend to skip if they're worn or dirty.Czernobog wrote:This thread is really making me consider getting an LD player and a CED player in the near future....

Pretty much the same reasons I've yet to get a player, but I still want one just sort of for the sake of having one and trying it out.ApolloBoy wrote:I've been thinking about getting a CED player as well, but I'm not sure if there's anything I want that's exclusive to the format. Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
I would love to get a laserdisc player, but whenever I see one it's crazy expensive.

Same here, but what really gets me is that all the expensive ones I see are beat to hell to boot. Maybe if it didn't look like it was used for kicking practice I might splurge a little on one, but I never see any nice condition ones anymore. For that matter, I've wanted to get an 8-track player for a while...but I haven't seen a working one being sold since the mid-nineties.Betamax001 wrote:I would love to get a laserdisc player, but whenever I see one it's crazy expensive.
Re: I've been bitten by the LaserDisc bug!
I had to look for quite a while before I found the one that I bought. Mine was only about $46 shipped, which was a bargain compared to all the other ones I saw. Even the ones I found locally on Craigslist were crazy expensive at $100 or more.Betamax001 wrote:I would love to get a laserdisc player, but whenever I see one it's crazy expensive.

Anime on Laserdisc, that takes me back to my college days.ApolloBoy wrote:I'd been contemplating getting into LaserDisc collecting for a few years now, but it wasn't until today that I actually picked up a few. Here's my measly LD collection so far:
Burn Up W #1
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water #1
Project A-Ko Final (Japanese)
Star Trek II
Star Wars: A New Hope (1995 rerelease)
So who else out there is into LDs?
I knew a guy that had a Japanese collection of Evangelion on laserdisc. Raw, no subs at all.
Id love to have some gundam on laser.
