The old Lucasarts point and clicks are cool.

You might be interested in titles like Baldur's Gate, Arcanum, or Fallout, though they can get pretty open-ended in terms of their worlds.

Oh, and play Castle of the Winds.

By today's standards the earlier titles are quite hard to play, however!

The first 2 in the series have been remade with voice acting and can be download for free from here. (As well as Quest for Glory 2)

The third entry in the series has been remade is available for free here.

The quality of these remakes is utterly amazing.

Deus Ex, I really don't think there has been a better dark story in gaming.

Septera Core, specially if you like JRPGs, although the battle system is REALLY dated and slow, but the story is waaaaaaay better than most FF games. And the characters are so likable.

Syberia such a lovely adventure game.

The Longest Journey more exciting story, but I just can't pick between this and Syberia

If you like Penumbra, get Amnesia, same devs, just as terrifying.

Anyhow, not a pc exclusive, but if you haven't played them yet, Half-Life series and Portal, Riven and Myst, Braid, Trine, Indigo Prophecy (not an exclusive, sorry), Max Payne series (Again, not an exclusive), American McGee's Alice, Splinter Cell 1-3 (too bad they didn't make any more)

And before anyone corrects me about Splinter Cell,

I like open world gaming, its just the generic characters, story and zero character attachment that comes with most of them I don't like. I have a hard time getting wrapped up in a game if I could give a rats ass about the characters. I guess what I'm kind of, but not exclusively looking for is console like gaming experience thats exclusive to the PC, if that makes any sense. Thats really the best way to describe what I want.

Great suggestions so far everyone, Day Of The Tentacle, I've wanted to play this game for a loooong time now. Loved Maniac Mansion on the NES and I always wanted to play the sequel. Also theres Grim Fandango, always wanted to try that one too. American McGee's Alice, that ones always intrigued me as well. Great suggestions, You read about all these cool PC games and then forget about them after a while.

Keep'em coming people! ZeroAX, where would I find Septera Core? Is it downloadable only? And BTW I forgot to mention, I LOVE SHMUPS and I know the PC is chock full of them, that Top 20 Doujin Shmup video JT posted recently was very informative.

Two Rs, but there are plenty of cheap copies on ebay.

Right now it's going for 3$ on gog

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/septerra ... he_creator

I'd advise you to get it from there, since it's updated to work with modern machines, even though it still crashes some times, since it was always a buggy game. Plus maps, HD wallpapers and lot's of goodies
