My vote is for the N64 version. Even with slightly less than stellar visuals the original version is still the best.

Original Hardware always wins, I too vote the N64 route.

The Gamecube version, while it looks a little nicer than the N64 version, definitely has it's bugs. Two or three times the game has frozen which, due to the save system, has meant in hours of lost progress. I read that it's an issue with the rumble feature and that if you don't use it, less bugs occur, but I still don't trust it.

No problems on VC and an N64 controller via GC port. :D

I've got it for both the N64 and Gamecube, and I guess I'd have to say go for the N64 version too. The Gamecube version does look great, but it definitely has some slow-down problems and occasional audio glitches. I've never experienced the game ever freezing or crashing on me though.

Thanks everyone. I'll play the N64 version as soon as I finish Oracle of Seasons.

yeah I was under the impression that shutting off rumble pretty much solved the freezing.

I own the Wii version. Even if it's not on your list of options I think it's the best of all and worth the purchase. :D
Thanks everyone...

The N64 version is the original version.

The other 2 are emulated not ported, so I wouldn't touch them.

I've just realised that the European PAL Gamecube version doesn't have a rumble feature on it (well my version doesn't). It displays a message saying it was disabled because of compatability issues.

So, that's why I've never encountered the crashing/freeze problems I guess. Seems those saying to disable the rumble are right.
