Sega Saturn. Move chip from a Model 1 to a Model 2?
Re: Sega Saturn. Move chip from a Model 1 to a Model 2?
I really want to, but my model 1 Saturn has a hard time reading discs. If I ever find a mint model 1 Saturn some where, I'll definitely get a chip for it!

Is there someone in this forum who actually took Racket's model 2 chip and got it to work on a model 1?Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, but you know, you can't trust every one's reports. Just because some one couldn't get it to work doesn't mean that he didn't butcher the chip or not install it correctly. Or didn't burn his games right / had bad images.
Unfortunately I didn't do the mod myself. Lordofduct sent me the chip already modded, and then a friend of mine re-did the soldering to clean it up a bit. It's still going strong. If you don't know what you are doing (like me), then you should probably get someone else to help, or just stick with the swap trick.

That's good to hear another person was successful doing thisspiritplx wrote: Me.

I just saw an interesting thread where someone asked about wiring a normally closed switch to the Saturn model 1 motor to facilitate swapping with less wear-and-tear.

It would be a neat thing to try if you have a model 1 without a chip.

That's a great idea! That way you don't have to stress the motor to swap, I like it a lot.
