If you could somehow use the Wii infared thing as an aimer and not a ight-gun like device, that'd be better. Since it's actually possible IMO. The light gun idea just doesn't work with the technology. And then you have to make it work on LCD's and CRT's, which would be harder. I'd looking into infared first. XD
Use Wiimote as mouse emulator with triplehead, problem?
Re: Use Wiimote as mouse emulator with triplehead, problem?
Okay well I don't think this would be possible truthfully. 3 monitors, yet again it would have to work in the same way, detecting a white light on the screen to get a position. Each frame would have to get 1 pixel lit up, and with 60 frames being a second, and screens being 1080x1920, that not plausible. Then detect which monitor, that'd be 3x longer!

This is why it's a good idea to read the full OP before responding.3GenGames wrote:I'd looking into infared first. XD

I think you'd be able to do the Wii-mouse thing if all three screens were placed more next to each other rather than at an angle.
I'm pretty out of the loop-- what type of games are you hoping to play with this setup? I'm kind of confused, because every FPS game I've played has had aim tied to look. That makes me wonder what benefit triplehead (and multi-screen aiming) would get you.
Or even if you're wanting multi-screen aiming, or if you just want the other two monitors to provide peripheral visual noise.

Well he said wanted, and mentioned zapper so I had to talk him out of that.
And as soon as you can program the game to aim with the sensor bar, sure, just.....idk. If your going to program it yourself, maybe make a controller with two sensors on it, test the angle and if it's in a stright line, aim, if not, move. And just have the buttons on the controller. That could work....and would be very cool!

The other two are just peripheral, I really just want to tie the remote to look/aim.Limewater wrote:I think you'd be able to do the Wii-mouse thing if all three screens were placed more next to each other rather than at an angle.

I'm not entirely sure how close you hope to be to your displays, but one thing you might want to consider is not mounting your sensor bar on the monitors at all. Rather, have it mounted somewhere below the monitors so that you can be close enough for things to be sort of immersive while not having quite as much worry about the wiimote's field of view. You won't be pointing it at the screens-- you'll be pointing it at a region below the screens.thelolotov wrote: The other two are just peripheral, I really just want to tie the remote to look/aim.
I'm not sure you'll find the experience to be that immersive, but I've never actually tried it, so what do I know?
Regarding the idea being stupid and unnecessary-- I don't think you should let that bother you a bit. Lots of cool things are stupid and unnecessary; skydiving, bungee jumping, roller coasters, pretty much all sports, the moon landings, and the stupidest and most unnecessary of all-- the "Sexy Brian" Halloween costume ( http://www.buycostumes.com/Family-Guy-S ... etail.aspx ).

I know, I never regret this purchase, but I'm used to being bashed unrelentingly for this, guess you guys are just much more civilized.Limewater wrote:thelolotov wrote: The other two are just peripheral, I really just want to tie the remote to look/aim.
About the thing with the sensor bar, yeah, I'm probably going to have to experiment a bit.
