So anyways, yeah. This really sucks. If I claim my premiums will sky rocket. If I dont, I have to live without a lot of stuff.
I'll be on the lookout though to see if anything comes up.
I got burgled....
Re: I got burgled....
That's a law unique to Nevada as a result of widespread gambling addiction. Any other pawn shop only has to hold the item until the agreed pawn period has passed - and then it's out the door as fast as possible.Ziggy587 wrote:I would definitely be checking Craigslist, ebay, pawn shops, second hand shops, and anything I could think of. They said on Pawn Stars that they have to hold newly bought merchandise for a certain amount of time before they can sell it, by law, in case it was stolen.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

If you don't claim, there's no point in having the insurance in the first place. Make your claim and if you can't afford the new rates, drop it. No point in paying for something you can't use. It really ought to be illegal for insurance companies to punish people for using their product.jeffro11 wrote:If I claim my premiums will sky rocket. If I dont, I have to live without a lot of stuff.

The vast majority of people I know in the different towns/cities I've lived in lock every time they go out. Well, maybe not if they're just going out for a few minutes or whatever like for grocery shopping. The difference is that people don't always lock their doors in the daytime when someone is home. How would friends let themselves in otherwise?

I have to agree with Hatta. If someone broke in and only stole your PS3 I wouldn't claim it. But if the dollar value is significant (as I suspect this is) then that's the whole point of having insurance in the first place.Hatta wrote:If you don't claim, there's no point in having the insurance in the first place. As others has said, I'd check out Craigslist, pawn shops, or any local area that sells games.

Wow... I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet but... have you tried filing a police report? In the states, pawn shops and police have access to a DB of stolen items and if you provide serials for your larger items, they will be able to track any attempts to sell to a pawn shop.
For insurance purposes, you will have to prove not only that you actually owned the items, but that they are of significant value. It's a huge headache working with insurance, but if you have plenty of pictures or other documentation that proves ownership, that will help you out.
With that said, you should still file a claim. But first, contact your agent, and ask how it will affect your rates, and the likelihood that it will be worth your while. If you end up spending a ton of time on it, and get nothing for your efforts, well, that won't be very fun.
But definitely contact your local police department and file a report. If nothing else, if multiple people in that area report break ins, they will be able to track them down easier.
Good luck with everything, and sorry to hear about your loss.
