What Game System Had The Best Launch?

The 3DS is shaping up to be a pretty incredible launch. Many of Nintendo's main franchises are present in one form or another, and there are a mountain of big franchises coming to the system. I'm really excited; it will probably be the first launch I camp out for. By the way, any suggestions for a successful execution of a console camp out?

I don't know if anyone watches Chuck, but they had a funny episode two weeks ago where the Buy More store was having a launch for a game called Spy Attack and a riot broke out when they found out there were only three copies that had been shipped. It was pretty funny

in terms of best launch id have to say dreamcast or ps2, both of those launches were big big deals and they both had good launch titles, id say dc's were better.

for craziest launch i think ps3 was nuts

Playstation 3 had people killing, mugging, and robbing one another.

i remember watching the news seeing that people got shot, robbed, jumped and those stupid kids who went around buying launch systems and smashing them on the ground infront of the line of people waiting to get theirs. and to think all the ps3 launch titles werent even that good

It may not be the best launch, but I do remember that the last time I was really excited for a system to be launched was the N64. Mainly because of Pilotwings 64. I wanted to play that sooo bad at the time. Now I kind of feel the same for the 3DS.

Myself, I'd probably say the Dreamcast in the U.S. Just because I remember being at Best Buy on Launch Day 09-09-99 and seeing everyone crowded around a DC kiosk watching NFL 2K and people commenting with excitement "Man, that looks almost real!" and "Dude, I'm so getting one of these!" Also, there was a very good selection of games right at launch - like Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and House of the Dead 2.

I got the system on release day with my first ever teaching paycheck. I bought Sonic Advance, Soul Caliber and Blue Stinger and I only planned on getting Sonic Advance.
So the hype, the fact that I bought it on release day, and the games blew me away making me spend more money than I planned on day one makes the Dreamcast the best system launch in my opinion.

Dreamcast for me...but 3DS may beat it if they can actually deliver on their promises

I also agree with the Dreamcast. It had games to cover serveral genre, so there was bound to be something for someone to like.

SNES - a great game bundled (Super Mario World), F-Zero and PilotWings. It was a triforce of fun.
