Maybe the guys in marketing don't play games?

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

This is the best year for games since 2007.
Subjective, and you can't quantify unless you go with metascores which are always skewed to begin with.

I can hardly find anything to dintinguish the noughty years from one another, except the launch of the 7th generation of consoles.

Activision and similar juggernauts can set precedents as they like, in light of consumer obliviousness. The probability that COD:BO is going to outsell its precedessor is a farce in and of itself.

Whatever. 2010 has been a really disappointing year - heck, the only games I really enjoyed of this year (aside from digital download titles) were games that probably were supposed to come out in 2009!
What about games that were released last year in other regions and then released this year in ours, like 3D Dot Game Heroes and Yakuza 3?

You're right, I can't prove anything because it is based on opinion, so following these rules half of your post is moot. COD Black ops will outsell its predecessor. It's predecessor was COD: WaW, as Modern warfare 2 is a different franchise, according to Activision. If you look at the American preorders for Black ops so far, it is building faster than the most pre ordered game on Current gen consoles(mw2). I don't know about games released in a previous year in a different region. I guess you could say 2009/10 or just go off of where it was released first. Or go by specific region.

It wouldn't be so crowded if Nintendo didn't go crazy with releases, Atleast the 3ds is pushed back. I don't know what I would do If it was all released at once.

True Crime HK has recently been cancelled. Typical Activision douchebaggery.
