Yeah, I am about 10 hours into Chrono Cross for the first time (Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time) and I am still waiting to start liking it, so far nothing like Chrono Trigger.jfe2 wrote: Chrono Cross, for example, was a great game, but I never really felt like I was playing the sequel to Chrono Trigger. Hopefully Square-Enix does the right thing and keeps the gameplay somewhat similar to the first game.
If Obsidian did get a chance to make a new Chrono Trigger - it could just end up being sort of what Chrono Cross seems to be so far - not really much in common to Chrono Trigger but bears the same name.
I would still be interested to see what came of it though..
I just wish Square Enix would do a 16- bit sequel to Chrono Trigger. Maybe sort of like what they are doing with Mega Man 9 & 10.
Thats what we all really want.
Re: Chrono Trigger: Good News and Bad News
there is actually a lot more in common than you would think. i was playing cross and im somewhat in the last portion of the game, and i wanted to know if there was any connection to trigger or not. i looked online...and well i found out there was. what i found that helped in the beginning of the game was to not think of it as a complete sequel..but more of a re-imagining. ever hear of radical dreamers? it was a side story of sorts for the trigger universe to tie in some loose ends. cross is really an expanded version of that game, sharing a lot of similarities. the game is not considered canon but cross is. if your anxious to see the links, then try this site: http://www.chronocompendium.com/christoph wrote: Yeah, I am about 10 hours into Chrono Cross for the first time (Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time) and I am still waiting to start liking it, so far nothing like Chrono Trigger.

the site contains major spoilers though...so be careful if you use it. my advice for cross is keep on playing it. it may not be as good as trigger, but it has it's worthy moments.

Really.
I mean, is there not people within these companies who recommend things like this? I bet it would take less the effort, time, money to develop it in 16-bit and it would please everyone.

I want a remake of Chrono Trigger with today's video game capabilities. Like updated graphics for example and the Wii motion controls like Zelda.
NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!

Studios from the western hive mind should not be entrusted with beloved Japanese franchises. There are enough examples of why this is not a good idea that an elaboration is not needed. One might just as well entrust a feral gorilla with a exquisite antique figurine and hope for the best.
