no problem -- I couldn't remember how I referenced the PSP in my review and I didn't see his comments.

Yes the GP2X goes through alkalines like there nothing... it won't even last through 60 minutes of video playback. But with rechargeables the life is very good... and they are rechargeable. Best part of it is if you buy 4 rechargeables you can continue playing on the go while your batteries charge by swapping. Where as the PSP needs to stay plugged in while it charges.Perseid wrote:The first thing I read was to not use alkaline batteries. They do not lie. You might as well just toss the alkalines on a fire. So you use NiMH batteries. And the life expectancy of course depends on how good your rechargeables are.metaleggman wrote:While we're comparing this to the PSP, which ones battery life is worse? They both seem to luv to chew away batteries, but the PSP's are rechargeable.
With all the batteries I've tried so far I have to give it to the PSP, which is kinda sad really. I did just order some Powerex batteries, though and maybe I'll report back once I try those for a while.
Personally on my GP2X I can get several hours of gameplay out of a pair of AA rechargeables (about a weeks worth of periodic gameplay for myself). overclocking obviousily chews through the batteries faster.

The GP2X screen is better for 4:3 stuff. There is more glare than I would like though -- same probably applies to the PSPlordofduct wrote:To be exact... first off the GP2X doesn't have as wide a screen as it so your emulator games fit better on the screen. (which is more a personal preferrence)
and the PSP screen is plagued with this blurring of objects in motion.

MVS is fully playable on the GP2X(and supports large ROM files by using ROM streaming... before PSP did as well)neohx_7 wrote:I can play CPS2, MVS, PSX, SNES, GEN, and others on the PSP at 90-100% full speed with sound at the original resolution. Ya the PSP needs to be hacked and the d-pad needs mod'd, but its no contest. The PSP is the best handheld emulation system ever. CPS2!!!!!!!!!
CPS2 emulator is almost finished for GP2X (and runs descent at this point)... either way though, doesn't mame play CPS2 games? And the GP2X mame is VERY good.
PSX I can't say and SNES is kinda slow as dirt. Genesis is amazing though!

I think it mostly comes down to how much people want to spend AND if they want to hack. The PSP is more expensive and must be hacked... the GP2X works out of the box and doesn't... it's up to the person to decide which route they want to take (hacking your PSP isn't that easy AND avoiding those damn system updates is a bitch. And don't say reflash an old firmware; that is an even bigger headache)
But the PSP route is great for those who want to play PSP games AND emus. Me for one, I don't give two shits about the PSP and its title, so I saved the extra cash, bought a huge memory stick and rock my GP2X instead.
When it comes to performance the both of them are very comparable and about on par with eachother... so as I said it mostly is up to what fits your budget and needs.
