I can confirm DEX Drive works for WIN98 and WIN XP and you do need that Serial COM Port.
Not sure what kinda luck you will have under Win 7.

Well if running it in compatibility mode for XP doesn't work, Windows 7 comes with 'Windows XP Mode' which is XP in a virtual environment. It will surely work in that. Only on Pro and above.
