whats the best crt for lightgun games?

I have a Total Flat Panasonic and light guns fire, but are not aimed correctly... I know this is an old post, but you do need a 'Rounded Television', that is what the guns were designed for.

what I mean by not aimed correctly;

you shoot the center of the screen and it fires on the left.
calibrating the gun (on games and systems that allow) the further you move left, the gun will not fire, only blink the screen. right side cannot shoot to the edge....

This happened because your contrast and brightness are too low. CRT's have what's called a "hot-spot" in the center as that's directly where the electron gun under the glass fires the image and it spreads outward into the corners.

All you have to do is temporarily turn up your brightness and contrast (write down your old contrast and brightness levels to put your TV back to normal and prolong your life after you're done playing) and you'll be all set to play.

I was just skimming through this thread and I was wondering if you guys know if one of the Dreamcast lightguns would work with a projector?

From what I read it seems that it would not but maybe there is a way or a specific lightgun which works.

Actually yes, but it must be a CRT projector or a CRT projection based television.

It is a DLP projector...does this mean I can forget about playing Dreamcast lightgun games with this one???

DLP projectors are completely alien tech when compared to a CRT so yes the light gun would not work with it.

Also if your TV has this feature you should turn off Velocity Scan Modulation as this can effect the accuracy of the light gun. This feature is known more now as Edge Enhancement, but CRTs tended to call it something different like VSM. Really you should have this off no matter what.
