Wow, really? I couldn't stand Railroad Tycoon 3 and highly prefer Railroad Tycoon II Platinum.
It's that that Railroads! was disappointing, there's just not enough to do and I feel that any new 3D Tycoon game needs more customization options and stock options. I should make a list of things a Tycoon game needs and submit it to game developers everywhere in the hopes that a worthy successor to Transport Tycoon appears. Locomotion didn't impress me enough since it was practically the exact same game.

Yeah Railroads was nice that it was in 3D but there wasn't much to do, I completed the game in a weekend. Terrible longevity for a simulation game. Little else to do once you had finished the objectives.

Yes, I've got OTTD for use with my retail TTD, I just mentioned TTD since it's required to play OTTD (unless you pirate of course). TTD is definitely one of the best sim games. I enjoy playing RCT more though. Locomotion is like the bastard offspring of RCT and TTD. It's easier to play (as far getting your infrastructure running) but more limiting at the same time. Sometimes I don't have the patience for TTD so I'll play Locomotion instead since it's easier.

Hmm, I didnt know there was so many people into........train simulators?

I dont think I have played a simulation game since Sim City 2000, but at the price of nothing I might as well give this a go.

EDIT: That super hick music was worth the download alone.

I'm glad to see more people who like Tycoon games, but I didn't expect to see someone who plays Densha de Go! I never plated it, but it looks like fun.

I play Densha de Go! on the PC mostly, without the assorted peripheral. It is fun if you like this sort of thing, but the outdated graphics and lack of external views are slowly spoiling the experience for me. There's an "interactive FMV" game for the PS3 called Railfan needless to say it looks uber-realisic

I still have no clue why MS sacked their Aces Team and with them Train Simulator 2. It's as if Flight Sim X hasn't been selling reasonably well for ages.

Has anyone played RailWorks? It gets new DLC on Steam like every week. It looks kind of boring to me, but maybe it's fun?

Railworks is the semi-sequel to Rail Simulator.. Both are made for purists (simplified controls exist but they're nowhere as engaging as Densha's) and despite the support for advanced DirectX features neither really look that great compared to the engine TS2 would have run on had they not scrapped it.

Still, there's not much competition against it on the PC right now. I would suggest Railfan instead, but eBay prices are crazy as usual.

I am interested in RailWorks because they mention track building and map editors, but I couldn't find any good screenshots and it's expensive so I didn't bother to buy it.
