WHAAAA?
What are you telling this guy? If you own a Dreamcast, this is a MUST BUY, like an extra controller, or the power cable. However, he does have a word of truth in there - some (very few mind you) do not work with the VGA adaptor. Try the following list.
As far as I'm aware, the only two good games that don't support VGA on the Dreamcast are Bangi-O and Last Blade. The games that aren't supported shouldn't be a deciding factor; moreover, with Racketboy's VGA box, there are ports for composite and s-video so you can just use those when you run across a game that isn't supported (or simply do the switch trick and force the game to run in VGA even if it doesn't want to).

I switch from composite to component and I can see a beautiful difference , I couldn't playing Xbox(original) games on composite after using component.
I thought I would skip on this because my TV has composite/component only , no s-video no VGA.
The question
is it worth getting VGA and playing on a 22 display
or composite on a '35-'40 TV, its really a hard choice
If your TV does not have VGA input, I would suggest getting an s-video cable to use yout DC on the TV. Yes VGA on the 22" display will look the best, but s-video is still a lot better than composite and you'll be able to play on the larger screen from a comfortable chair. Or you could get the VGA box (instead of just the cable) so that it is VGA and the s-video on it so you can do either one.
VGA on 22 inch monitor is better. Just a question if you like the monitor or larger non-VGA TV.
The VGA box grounds a couple pins internally upping Dreamcast video to 640x480 screen. You can't get Component from Dreamcast without a VGA to Component transcoder.
If your regular TV can't support S-Video you are stuck with composite. Dreamcast supports (from lowest) RF, Composite, S-Video, SCART RGB (Europe TV's), and the best being VGA.
Has anyone tried a VGA to Component Transcoder with a HD CRT and tried the Dreamcast Lightgun?
Composite on that TV isn't too bad, I used to run Composite on mine. When I switched to S-Video the dreamcast games did become sharper. On my computer monitor with VGA extremly sharp pic.
If anyone has gone this route for dreamcast please PM me. I'd like to know if this works. Plus if CRT HD if this will allow Dreamcast lightguns to work?
I wrote an extended blog concerning LCD VS CRT, VIDEO INPUTS AND LIGHTGUNS ON HD:
I am not sure its worth it to get a VGA box, then a vga to component converter just to get a better picture
Great TV!
The VGA box runs under $20.00. I would buy one while you can still get them. Good investment to try Dreamcast on your computer monitor. You'll notice a difference with the 640x480 resolution (If your monitor supports that size).
Your TV looks like a Non HD, still think even on that TV pic would improve over Composite. Question is if worth investing in VGA Transcoder.
Good news is that even with composite hookup you can play Dreamcast lightgun with this one. Also if monitor is a CRT, Dreamcast lightgun will work with VGA.
