So what have you been doing that is difficult?
Replacing the mask ROMs on SNES PCBs with EPROMs. The regular ones aren't difficult or anything but it's a LOT of wire ends to prepare and the entire job collectively is a pain in the ass. The top mounted mask ROMs are a different story because of how small they are. Soldering 30 gauge wire to 42 tiny solder pads (each about the size of an uncooked grain of rice) makes the installation of the PS2 mod chip look easy.
I didn't mean to come off like an a-hole in my last post (after I just re-read it, some might think that). It's just that when I first saw the PS2 mod chip a while back with it's 20 or so connections it seemed like a nightmare, especially compared to the average mod chip which is usually around 5 connections. But after doing what I said above, it doesn't seem too hard any more.

No offense was taken. It's always good to hear the perspective from someone else. The comment actually made the PS2 seems less daunting to me.

For sure, it's not for a novice. What is usually comes down to is having the right tools for the job.

I got it working. here is a picture of the hard part. (adding it in because the first picture shows the easy part of the install) it is 30awg (5wires)on the side of north side chip from the modbo. 3 wires in a row that can't touch was fairly difficult. (was for me especially as I had like no soldering experience)

Congratulations. That's awesome that you were able to do this will little to no soldering experience.

In Brazil we can buy pre-modded PS2s everywhere (and 360s and Wiis if you want to). It's so common here I used to take for granted that PS2s were easy to mod. Still find these topics a bit weird.

Same here lots of places to get a modchip install, around $50. Wii and PSP softmod is quite common and cheap, hell even I do it to make a few bucks now and then to buy more videogame stuff.
