Well, Korg is a synth, so its generating sounds on the fly. This means you can manipulate everything.nickfil wrote:My problem is that everything i hear come out of korg has this SUPER electronic sound. Now i know we are using computers here and not actual instruments, but it seems really hard to get away from that and have any kind of organic interesting sound.
Beaterator is triggering samples and loops. So it would depend on what samples you have to work with as you can only bend samples you're working with so much.

Second was fun because it was Kraftwerk and used a stylophone. I couldn have done without the noise he was making with the Iphone though.
Third was my favorite though.

Re: beaterator vs korgDS
jeez guys, no offense, but you could use some better videos to sell the product. When I was first looking into Beaterator vs. DS-10, the 4 DS orchestra vid with sanogd really turned me off of the KORG. The second video was even worse (I mean from a technical standpoint it's cool, but know your audience). The OP wants an app to make cool GOOD SOUNDING music. In my opinion, these videos make a much better arguement for the DS-10 and are more relevant to the original post:
Aerodynamic by Daft Punk cover - Fast Forward to 1:10 where the song starts:

an actual GOOD demo by sanogd - fast forward to 0:50 seconds where song starts:

crazy asian guy making Straw Talkbox - homebrew style - kinda interesting:

Beaterator has a full-featured synthesizer built in, so it can generate the same kind of stuff the KORG can, but Beaterator can also import wav samples, so basically you can record loops from a synth like the DS-10 and import them into Beaterator. Beaterator also lets you record from the mic on the fly, which means you can add vocal tracks and sing yourself, or record a guitar lick or whatever you want right then and there. The only things that suck about beaterator is the interface, and the load times for samples if you're going to be running it from the UMD. Beaterator will play back actual instruments while KORG will only generate electronic synth noises. I am planning on getting both, but I'm going to start with KORG because it's so intuitive to use on the DS with the Stylus. Hope this helped, sorry if I offended anyone with my first post.

Re: beaterator vs korgDS
Ah, I'd glossed over the beaterator stuff because I don't have a PSP so I guess I missed that.opeth13 wrote: Beaterator has a full-featured synthesizer built in, so it can generate the same kind of stuff the KORG can, but Beaterator can also import wav samples, so basically you can record loops from a synth like the DS-10 and import them into Beaterator...[/url]
Also this post reminded me that there should be a billion covers of Hot Buttered Popcorn made with Korg. I was correct.
