What Genesis games to you play with your friends the most?

I have to play mine by myself, no friends. If I did though any beat'um'up, or run'n'gun.

When I was a kid I had only one controller, so I had to take turns with my brother. so co-op was out of the question. We would switch players when we one of us died. Sonic 2 mostly.

Why do so many people call fighting games "Beat Em' Ups"? Streets of Rage is a Beat Em' Up, and Mortal Kombat is a Fighter. Just wanted to clear that up. Anyway, some good multiplayer games are: Bomberman [Obviously], All the Streets of Rage games, Gunstar Heroes, and essentially every fighting game has two player mode.

That's a pet peeve of mine as well, in addition to everyone who calls 1st person shooters "shoot 'em ups". Goldeneye, Doom, Quake, Halo and Call of Duty are NOT shoot 'em ups. They are FPS games, or first person shooters. Gradius, R-Type, Thunder Force, Star Soldier and Raiden are shoot 'em ups.

BTW, Lisalover1, your list of game consoles kicks ass. Looks a lot like mine, but just slightly different. I've got a few more Japanese things, and you seem to have a bit more variety. Do you have them all displayed?

Thanks. I do have all my main consoles listed, but I left out a lot of details that I wouldn't think would be consise enough for a signature. For example, I actually have two NES's, but one is Yobo's remake of the console. I've been wanting to pick up more Japanese consoles like the Wonderswan lately, though.

One-on-one fighters have always been called beat-'em-ups in the UK from what I gather; same thing with calling first-person shooters shoot-'em-ups. If you're beating someone up, it's a beat-'em-up and if you're shooting someone up, it's a shoot-'em'-up. I personally classify games based on their American designations as you guys do, but if you're really wondering why they do that (and not simply commenting on how annoying it is to you personally) then there's your answer.

Hands down NHL 94 is the game that was played whenever friends were together. Even these days when friends come over and they see my retro collection NHL 94 is always the game everyone goes to.

I dont have friends, so I dont play Genesis with friends. And besides I only have one controller.
