Now you get to replay it again with all the goombas replaced by those black shelled enemies whose name escapes me at the moment.

It was the same for me. Never could beat it as a kid and did it my freshman year of college one afternoon. I let out a scream that could be heard down the hall.

I gotta say, my favorite port was Super Matio Bros. Deluxe on the GBC. Especially with the lost levels "For Super Players" added in. Also the Boo races. I HATE the black and yellow boo. Also the high score challenge ribbon T_T I got it, but it took forever.

I think the SMB Deluxe on GBC is great due to the addition of Lost Levels... but I HATE the zoomed in thing. And I hate the moving the screen up or down thing. I would have bought the NES Classic Series GBA version of SMB1 had it been about $15 cheaper.

Don't worry I know your pain, I have yet to beat it myself.

One time though, I got killed by the last bowser on my last life RIGHT in front of the axe.

Goddamn you 8-3 Hammer bros...

Wow, I didn't know so many people haven't/took a while to beat SMB.

Maybe it's something like me and Sonic, I never beat Sonic 1 and rarely beat the second. Mostly because I get bored and shut it off before completion.

I beat it about a year ago for the first time. The game is actually surprizingly difficult...

until you play The Lost Levels! The first game is a cake walk compared to it. Also I can't tell you how pissed I was when I realized the worlds included Letters. Beat the lost levels then THATS a real damn achievement. After beating the lost levels I was able to beat Super Mario Bros. using no warps in around 30-40 mins.
