Love James Rolfe, not just his AVGN character, and he's got some great film making chops.
Plus, for all of the Nostalgia Critic and Spoony fans, don't be surprised if James has helped them write a few reviews (and vice versa). I watched the Irate Gamer review of TMNT, and not only did the Irate Gamer steal some of his jokes word for word, he also stole game footage straight from James' review.

James has hundreds of great short films, great movie reviews, great board game reviews, and of course, great video game reviews. I've been following his films since '06, and he's really great with his fan base, and so are his cronies. His advertising manager is a genuinely great guy, and has a sharp wit to boot.

Yeah, his cursing can get repetitive, but he's just playing to his audience. I connect with the guy because we are similar in a lot of aspects, except for the fact that his collection dwarfs mine, but I'm much better looking. (I was going to add a j/k, but then I thought "I am better looking", and I also thought adding "j/k would be lame).

Check out his short, "The Deader the Better". It's a lot of fun. My favorite short of his is titled Death Puppy. It reminds me a lot of the short films friends and I made in high school.

Yeah, he has production skills.
I just think the profanity for profanity's sake and poop jokes get quite old after a while.

I thought he was pretty cool when he first came out like 3 years ago, but now, thats a different story.

Thats his whole gimick, to rant and swear at video games, but he does add something to his videos every now and then.

His last one regarding the crappy 3DO game seems to be one i happened to enjoy for the first time in a while. I wasnt on the floor laughing, but i found his review entertaining and got a few chuckles out of his expressions regarding the game, which were about the best way you could describe them.

His last one is the same as his others, same old stuff. But his movie reviews/ boardgame reviews i happen to like in some way...

He's hit-or-miss with me as well. He's a great entertainer for the most part, but reviews such as the one for the Sega CD have given impressionable gamers the WRONG idea about the system. I mean, it's like if I were to just review a bunch of THQ games and call the PlayStation "Total fuckin' GAR-BITCH!". It's not that the episode wasn't funny, it's just that that poor system already gets enough undeserved shit; a popular voice railing against it on poor merits doesn't help anything.

Also, I saw one episode with a clone of the AVGN made from his own shit or something like that, and it was the most obnoxiously irritating thing I've ever seen in my life.

I give the AVGN a B-.

I agree, but I have just got to hand it to the guy. He's using the profanity because that's what the majority of his fans want. I can't blame the guy, he's living out his dream, getting paid well to play games and make silly videos. I still can't believe how many people just send him games left and right, I wish I would have thought of that.

He's good about spreading the wealth too. People can degrade his nerd persona all they want too, but James is a good guy. Pretty funny guy too, I wish I had his contract with Spike TV. N to the V.
