Slimness doesn't matter much to me, personally. If the price drops, though, I will snag one. It will be nice to have a system to get all the cross-platform games for that will not randomly die on me. 2 360s is enough, me thinks.

I'm tempted to just buy an old one and upgrade the hard drive.
My GameStop actually has 4 PS2 BC units pre-owned for $379.

I was kinda tempted to buy it, but then I'd have to reformat my current PS3 hard-drive to work with it, plus I'd have to worry about the overheating issues (which is a big reason I have continued to avoid the 360), and it's not even 100% Backwards Compatible anyway...

... I just think it's better to have a PS2. I've had mine since launch and it's still workin' like a champ. Granted, I have to open it up every now and then, dust it and give the lens some alcohol. Still, it works, and it's the only way I can play my imported PS2 games as well as backups.

As for the PS3 Slim? If it is happening this year, I'd say they ain't announcing it until maybe late October/early November. They need that Christmas Cash.

Still, I honestly don't think it'll happen this soon, unless they really throw out some good deals to get rid of their current stock. Apparently, getting Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 for free still ain't enough for most folks.

The only news that has been announced is that Sony have told stores to sell all existing stock of the 80GB version in favour of the 160GB version. They're discontinuing the 80GB version, that is all.

I don't know how people have got these wild rumours out of that simple statement.

It's Sony trying to make more cash out of consumers because they can sell the 160GB version at a higher price. They think if it's the only version people will be forced to buy the most expensive one. Fucking idiots.

They ordered an unusually high number of ps3 components more that they have in while plus the mole who has mad a ton of predictions already said a slimline and price cut was on the way.

Predictions mean jack.

I predict that you have a one legged pineapple from china who likes daisies.

There we go. I just made a prediction.

All of his came true though forgot to type that, so his dose have some weight to it. He also predicted the the 360 pro being replaced by the elite latter this year which so far is looking to come true.

I HIGHLY doubt that. Has there been any news pointing to a ramped up 160 GB production? If they just wanted people to buy the most expensive version, why would they have dropped the price in the first place? If there were really only trying to screw people out of money, they'd still be charging $600 for systems.

You're not exactly making a whole hell of a lot of sense.

there are rumors floating around they are bringing it back...via software emulation

as far as the slim goes, i don't care either way i already have a ps3...I plan on buying another one for my wife...but if it were to be a slim I would want something better than the cheap looking plastic of these pictures that are floating around on the net
Software is only so good. IMO, I'd rather just have that real Emotion engine in it.
