Not much of a find, but cool none the less...
I won a Dreamcast in a raffle at the Hollywood Video rental premiere in LA back in 1999, before the launch of the system. Anyone remember that? Sega and Hollywood video had an event where you could rent a Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure about 2 months before the system was offically launched. Bernie Stolar (former Sega of America head honcho) and a big wig from Japan were there, along with their hired goons. I actually had a chance to talk with Stolar before the raffle, asking him about online play with Sega Rally (I was really excited about that game).
There were "B" list celebrities there too, like that chick that played Nikki on VIP (with Pamela Anderson) and "Mini Me." There were some other chicks, but I don't remember who they were, let alone what show they were on (probably something on UPN).
At the event, staff members were passing out raffle tickets to everyone outside in line. KROQ was there, handing out movies and CDs, along with free pizza. They gave me Armageddon on video for answering some trivia question (this was before DVDs where affordable).
The local WB (channel 5) news station was there and I was interviewed before the contest because I was able to call out the weather man by his first name (guess he was impressed that he was recognized).
While being there for a good 3 hours, I made friends with others in line. Many were there just to check out what was going on or to get free goodies. Whenever they would leave, I would ask them for their raffle tickets. I had around 30 tickets by the end of the night. Since there was lots of time to kill I was able to organize them numerically. This would come in handy.
The moment came and they started drawing raffle tickets. They said that there would only be one winner (whom had to be present to win) and that they would only draw 5 tickets. The first ticket was drawn, but no one had the matching number. Same with the 2nd and 3rd. Finally they drew the 4th ticket and read out the number one digit at a time. My heart was racing as they read a digits because one of my tickets had the exact number! I wouldn't have been able to locate it if they weren't numerically organized.
Upon confirmation, KROQ DJs hand me a Dreamcast (without modem since sega net was non-exsistant) with pre-release version of Sonic Adventure (no online features) and interviewed me. They then brisked me inside where all the media was waiting. I walk in and announced, "I WON A DREAMCAST!!!" Man I was excited! At that moment, cameras started flashing, Bernie Stolar rushed to my side to congratulate me, reporters were asking me questions. What a rush.
But there's more. As the excitement was settling, I had another chance to talk with Stolar. Told him that online play should be included with Sega Rally. He agreed and told me that the Japanese big wig didn't think so. Anyways, before Stolar left, I asked him about the possibility of getting a modem when sega's online plans are ready. He turns to a hired goon and tells him to take care of it. Hired goon gives me a card and tells me to contact him when sega is ready to go online.
Fast forward to the launch of sega net, I contact hired goon about getting a modem. He ask for my mailing address and said he'll send it out. A week later a large package arrives at my mom's house addressed to me from Sega. It was too big and heavy to be a modem. I open it with confusion and to my surprise, it's a brand new sealed Dreamcast! Included was a full retail copy of Sonic Adventure (to go online) and a VMU!
So in the end of it all, I got two Dreamcast, and two copies of Sonic Adventure and an additional VMU! All for free!
Yeah that was long, but I wanted to tell the story right! Not quite a find, but I was definitely at the right place at the right time!

Street Fighter Alpha 2 cart for the SNES unboxed for £2 at a car boot sale near Middlesbrough, people at those things never know what console stuff is worth. Also got a bag of over 100 original ZX Spectrum games for £1 because "They're tapes and they don't use tapes anymore because everything is on cd so them things are absolutely bloody useless". I love dumb people!

Last week I went up to my local Gamestop and found that someone gave them Metroid II (gb), Final Fantasy Legend II, III, and chessmaster all in original box with all packaging(minus outside shrinkwrap) and all the manuals. FFLII came with the map too. I got Metroid II and FFLII finding that the saves were complete saves. Another bonus is that the stickers that Gamestop stuck on came off easily. For me, this is actually a pretty good find for Gamestop.
Both were about $12 after discount. I don't know if I paid too much, but finding that at Gamestop is too awesome.
