HD AV pack is just Microsoft branded component cables, you're good to go if you already have component.
The HD AV Pack is not just Microsoft Branded component cables. I have the Microsoft Branded component cables, and they also include an optical out, not just component cables. The HD AV Pack came in two different versions as well, one was a small box on a short cord that you had to provide your own component cables for, and the other was a component cable that plugged straight into the back of the Xbox. Both provided optical audio out which is a very nice bonus if you have a surround sound system and can find one cheap. But yeah in the end they're just Microsoft branded component cables.
