All the users need to know is if youtube displeases them, they need to find another site. It's that simple. Don't stick with a sinking ship. You do no have a voice on youtube and you never did. They will not change for your sake. All you can do is leave when it starts to suck.
Thank Christ there's still common sense in this world.

YouTube is a free site. It doesn't cost you a cent to use it, and it doesn't cost you a cent to stop using it. Don't like it? Then use something else. It's not like the internet is shy of free flash video hosting services, after all. And you're sure as shit not tied to it via some lawyer-soaked contract.

All this whining about not showing popular videos is ludicrous. I personally have never used the default YouTube home page. I bookmark direct to my subscriptions, or use search. Why the hell do I want YouTube or "popular opinion" to show me what to watch???

What a waste of time. Not to mention the hilarious irony that people are telling others the evils of YouTube via a video on YouTube. Knobs.

I'd understand if it was a pay-for service with binding contracts and it started sucking that people would deservedly whine about it. But whining about free stuff on the net is just plain stupid. Shut up and vote with your clicks.

Generation Y... I swear....

But ma, I have the right to it. I have the right to get whatever I want gosh darn it!

::kicks and pouts until mommy gives me a cookie::

Saying you have the power to choose what someone else does with their stuff is like walking into someone's house, watching their TV and drinking their beer, and then when the guy asks you who the hell you are and to get the fuck out, you turn and say, "But I've been watching your tv for hours now... I should have the right to it! You ever hear of sharing?"

Do I agree with Youtube? No. Do I care what youtube does with THEIR shit? No. They opened their site to make a profit... so let them try. If it's a bad choice, leave, and they'll fall apart. Though it's unlikely.

This actually gave me a few laughs. This is pretty pointless in my opinion as well, company have to change with the times for survival. Also if anything on youtube is actually good, we can assume the makers could find another way to get it up on the internet.

Why not use Vimeo?
Is it paid for? I believe you can load any length up there.
Any how, although I like youtube and it did become like the Google for videos(you will find on youtube videos that are not available elsewhere) if you find it unpleasant you can change or you can even start your own service if you are serious about it.

That video makes Google look evil, is Google the new Microsoft?

Funny thing is, I just heard this same argument against illegal immigration.

Meh either way. I don't have a YouTube account, and I wouldn't use it even if I did. About the only thing I use it for is watching video game footage, music videos, or movie trailers anyway.

I'm against illegal immigration as well.

I have nothing against immigrants. Come in legally. My family immigrated here in the early 20th century... they had to do it the legal way. These new people can too. I'm all for it, you knock on my door and ask to come in... I'll probably let you in and offer you a beer. The more the merrier. Sneak in my back window??? I'm likely to shoot you then.

( as for our policies on what allows immigrants legal entry, let is different, I don't agree with all of them. But that's way off topic )

This somewhat reminds me of the thing a year or two ago about the kid whose video was taken down for some reason and he believed youtube was infringing on his freedom of speech. Uh, youtube is not public property, if the people who run it don't like what you've got they have every right to delete it.

Youtube has pretty much been a wasteland since it started, and anything that was decent or watchable became popular because it got passed around by people on forums, through e-mail, or word of mouth. The thing about the ratings system was rediculous. Did I ever go on youtube and watch whatever showed up on the mainpage based on the ratings of other youtube users? Do you read the comments on that site?! They're all morons!

Anyway, these sites that survive based on user content are like dictatorships. A new one shows up to replace the old (facebook shows up to oust myspace) then the new one starts to become like the old one, changing things and alienating the users who supported it in the first place. People try to resist, they picket and make petitions, but it gains more and more support from new users (40-somethings, your grandpa) who don't care and eventually someone rises up with a replacement (friendzone) which seems like the holy grail. . . until. . .

i have been watching star trek the original series on Hulu and it's great. Youtube is fun for a laugh or if I am looking for music videos, but I never took it seriously aside from that. It's like google now, there is so much junk to sift through just to find anything worthwhile. There are sooo many reviews/blogs about the same thing that every topic is so oversaturated. I remember watching a great Jaguar review. It was very honest about the system's pros and cons, and then watching another review by some idiot who kept going on about how the system is called the multimedia player, but can only play cartridges and about how the shape of the top makes it look like there is something else supposed to go there... the cd drive dumbass (phew, sorry). That is the stuff that drives me insane. Back in the day when only those who really knew their shit about how to post a blog or review about something was when you actually got useful information. Unfortunately, this is bound to happen to any site like this because it's so easy to post videos now. Too many people posting nonsense because they think that just being a dumbass is funny. I have actually seen reviews about how to put ikea furniture together. WHAT?! This is how I ended up on this racketboy, however, as I was looking for a place to get more reliable information on older systems and games. I ended up here and at atariage.com.

I know there are a lot of videos on youtube that are pretty good and I am only talking about reviews and some of the blogs that are just over-the-top stupid. I love the mean kitty videos and engineer's guide to cats. Everyone should check them out.

Wait, Youtube is getting bought by Hulu?

Just fucking fantastic. First they block music videos (and a bunch of other corporate sponsored vids) from UK users. Is all content going to be blocked to UK users now? I can't access a damn thing on the Hulu website because I don't live in the US. What the fuck? Is youtube going to go the same way?

Granted I can just go to another website but it's still annoying.

Regarding the freedom of speech shit, I had a massive argument with a 'friend' of mine pissing and moaning about how Facebook sucked since they changed the layout and that he demands that it be returned to normal. I tried pointing it out that he doesn't pay for the service ergo has no rights regarding the use of the site and to either put up or shut up. I was sick to the back teeth of people pissing and moaning about the entire matter, with everybody vomiting "new facebook sucks, I want the old one back". I told people to stop fucking moaning and go find another website since that is your only option. Yet I'm the one in the wrong for pointing out their complete lack of rights on the matter.

God damn it, people are fucking dumb. What the hell is wrong with the human race that makes everyone such heaving fucking retards about shit that does not fucking matter?

Gah, I'm gonna go out for a while, please respond with whatever opinion you have. Whatever you say, it doesn't matter. Nothing does. Only 'people' care, and they're just dumb.

Except that the country you live in is not your house. Ridiculous analogy.
