I don't think so. As far as I know it's the same game. They just call it Zero in Japan and Alpha here. Similar to the Boxer, Claw, Dictator name shuffle.h8b1llg8ts wrote:Is there any reason to get the "zero" versions if you have Alpha 1, 2, & 3?

Thats because in Japanese Zero existing before One tends to imply prequel, whereas in English speaking countries, Alpha implies prequel. Hence the name change.MrPopo wrote:I don't think so. Same thing though. Just I found that Alpha 3 didn't come out on US saturn, and thats why I chose the Japanese name to explain my point.

If my memory serves me right the DC version is the code all other later ports are based on. If you end up playing Alpha Anthology or PSP or who knows the gameplay should be nearly identical minus controllers.

The Dreamcast version has the most features, the Saturn version is by far the most arcade-accurate (big sprites, more frames of animation), and the ps version is crap, but good enough if you don't have the other versions.

My choice is PSX version, because that's the only version I got to play.

I remember the Saturn port being the closest to the arcade as well.

Saturn was converted from the original Arcade true but so was the Dreamcast version.synapse wrote:Saturn got the conversion from the original Arcade.
DC got the conversion from the Naomi version of the original Arcade (that's what I've been told). Not the exact same feel, but it featured some nice extras.
PSX version? meh
(sorry for my english)
The naomi port was a port from the Dreamcast version since it had the most features renamed Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper.
The others are simply called Street Fighter Alpha 3

Depends on how much money you wanna spend I suppose. Or what controller you like using...
Personally I got a copy of Street Fighter Alpha 3 for my PSP and thought it wasnt too bad. Especially because I got it on sale for 7 bucks : )

I've owned all.
PSX - capable but skip it if you have a DC or Saturn
Saturn - looks great with full sized sprites and plays well but the control feels a tad sluggish, even on an arcade stick
Dreamcast - sprites are smaller and the animation doesn't feel as smooth as the Saturn but the control is the closest to the arcade version
Which version should you get? None. Get a Saturn and get Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold.
