I've only played it once and that was a while ago. I remember not thinking it was anything to write home about.
It isn't very horror-tastic either. The resident evil shooter on the wii is more moody. Hell, house of the dead overkill is more scary than this. I would say that it has to be difficult to write a horror on rails shooter only because if the user isn't shooting at something he/she gets bored.

you can see in the video what i mean- it has aspects of house of the dead with aspects of time crisis. The silly dialogue and multiple routes of HOD, and full auto of TC. The thing is, both games do those aspects better than vampire night in my opinion. The only thing i really liked was that there were these things that attached to the villagers body that you would have to shoot off to save them. So it was this weird line up your shot and pick off the bad guy without killing the villager hostage situation. Pretty cool, but loses it's flare after a while.
No Sega lightgun games for PS2?

The LCD topgun (still available in places) works on LCDs though.
Uses the exact same sensor bar tech Wii uses, only it did it first.
Re: No Sega lightgun games for PS2?
I have played vampire night, time crisis 2, 3 and crisis zone. I even had two guncon2's at one point for the ps2.
Vampire Night had some nice graphics but was otherwise a very pale imitation of House of the Dead. There were very few enemies in the levels and the bosses weren't anything special. Interestingly more enemies would appear in the game if you had 2 guncons plugged in even if you were only playing a one player game. Unlike the Time Crisis games it was 2 players. Although I think Time Crisis 2 & 3 could be played as two player but only with 2 tvs and 2 ps2s.
Time Crisis 2 and 3 were great fun. Time Crisis 2 also allowed one player to play with 2 guns which was pretty fun. Crisis zone was the hardest and the longest with additional challenges making it replayable but it wasn't as fun. I think there was also a 2 gun option in crisis zone but you had to beat a bunch of challenges before unlocking it.
Time Crisis 2 and 3 I think are worth tracking down but like all light gun games they are really short and you'll get bored of them very quickly.

Yeah it's not compatible, but if you have an HD CRT, the PlayStation AV Adaptor, component cables and a Guncon 2 most guncon games will run in 480p and 100hz mode which lets you play the Guncon games in HD.
This all only works on an HD CRT though.

Re: No Sega lightgun games for PS2?
I thought Resident Evil: Dead Aim was pretty nice. Never tried a light gun shooter that wasn't on rail before. I played it right after finishing RE4 and thought it held up pretty well. You move using the directional pad on the guncon and use those A and B buttons on the side too if I remember correctly. Pretty neat when I first played it.
I tried Dino Stalker after and thought that was pretty good too. The reviews for Dino Stalker was awful but I thought it was a nice extension for people who liked Dead Aim.

Re: No Sega lightgun games for PS2?
I got the EMS Topgun II recently and it works great on my Bravia LCD HDTV. I have Virtua Cop Rebirth, Time Crisis 2 and 3 on PS2, and House of the Dead III and Silent Scope on Xbox and they all work.
For some reason it won't work on Crisis Zone. None of the buttons do anything. Has anyone gotten it to work? I heard you have to plug the gun in at a certain point to work.
As for the gun, I'm surprised they put this kind of detail into it. It looks like a real M9 and even has the proper trademarks. The slide blows back for recoil and the laser is fully adjustable, which is very helpful so you don't always have to aim down the sights.

Unfortunately my Sony Wega HD CRT is 120mhz.

Vampire Night okay, similar in game play though not as good as House of the Dead.
Did a full write up on Lightguns.
Info from Modman's adaptor there too.
