Hey guys so I've just finished playing the new DMC Difinitive Edition for Xbox One and I really enjoyed it. I know its had some backlash from hardcore fans but as someone whos not very in sync with the series as others are I enjoyed it but I'm getting off topic
I've been wanting to play the Original games for some time i had bought the first Devil May Cry a while back but never got around to it. Is it worth just getting the HD Collection for Xbox 360 and get the 4th one and just playing those or go out buy 2 and 3 for PS2 and get the 4th after?

Whatever you decided, do yourself a favor, DON"T play DMC2, it's horrid. The first time I played it, I beat it. So underwhelming. Even the creator apologized for it.

That's what I always hear... but then again, a few people play it anyway for completion's sake.Kidpanda wrote:Whatever you decided, do yourself a favor, DON"T play DMC2, it's horrid. The first time I played it, I beat it. So underwhelming. Even the creator apologized for it.
I have the HD Collection on PS3, it seems totally fine to me. Smooth framerate, trophies, all that. Never played the PS2 versions though.
TBH, I don't think any PS3 HD Collections have really had any issues apart from The Splinter Cell Trilogy, and Silent Hill. It's a pretty simple thing: widen the aspect ratio, add trophies, and don't screw up the framerate. That's all you gotta do.

DMC 2 is up there for me as one of gaming biggest let downs, I couldn't even play it. I wanted to crush the series but It even deterred me from the 3rd and so on, really thought the 1st DMC was very good though.
I'd go with the cheapest options, unless for collections sake you'd like the 360 collection to go with the Xbox one game. Either way shouldn't be too much a big deal, oh yea and good luck even wanting to finish part 2 :p

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I'd recommend the HD version. You should be able to get it for like $20 at most, which is the same or less than you'd pay for buying the games individually, and it looks a lot better being in HD obviously.
As for DMC2, I'd recommend playing it, but don't actually waste your time beating it. I think it's important that anyone wondering why DMC2 is hated so much should play any of the other DMC games first and then play 2 to understand for themselves why it's so bad.

I'm thinking this as well. Due to the collection, which was already pretty low priced, being a few years old, the price has gone through the floor. I'm also not aware of any cons concerning this collection that would merit sticking with the PS2 originals.MrEco wrote:I'd recommend the HD version. I definitely agree with this, though I don't think that actually beating it is that bad. I played through it some time ago and while it was agony, muting the soundtrack and playing some Death Metal instead made it... eh, I guess less excruciating is the way to put it.As for DMC2, I'd recommend playing it, but don't actually waste your time beating it.
