The box is just a box and manual. You get a digital download on your system of choice. The surveys for that should be going out between now and release. It was $20 extra if you wanted a PC version on either DVD or USB.

As of right now the backers aren't getting any of the physical console versions.
I'm kind of annoyed. The disc version is such a better deal than most of the kickstarter backers. I understand that kickstarter backers are what made this happen, but usually as a thanks for the support they get at least a small hook-up.

I am a $20 digital backer and will get the WiiU version, which will retail for $19.99. I also added $26 for a disc version. On the kickstarter page it only says Steam, Linux and Mac.
What I'm hoping is that I can get a WiiU disc for my $26 add-on and then the digital code for my PC... if not getting a digital WiiU code and PC disc is cool too.

Mighty No. 9 delayed until next year.

From the backer email:
We have an important announcement to share with our backers.
Although we understand that everyone was looking forward to playing Mighty No. 9 as soon as possible, a release delay is going to be announced for the game at Gamescom 2015, which is currently being held in Cologne, Germany.
This is a project that would not have existed without the support of our backers, so we at least wanted to deliver this news to our backers before it is officially announced. We are unable to confirm a final release date at this time, however we will be aiming for a release in Q1 2016. Once a solid release date is set, we will announce it immediately to our backers and fans.
Of course, it is important to explain why exactly the game is being delayed. As we have communicated in the updates to our backers, all of the core content for the game is developed and in a complete state. However, there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct affect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release.
Currently, comcept and their partners are working at full capacity to resolve these issues and fix any remaining bugs. In addition, we have received quite a few requests for additional information regarding the various platforms that are part of the platform survey we have sent out. We have also only managed to receive around half of the total responses needed for the survey.
Considering the fact that the game’s release has been delayed, we are planning to open another platform survey once a final release date has been settled upon.
We will continue to deliver the most up-to-date info to our backers and fans through our forum updates, so please keep an eye out!
We appreciate your support and patience regarding this matter, and look forward to delivering Mighty No. 9 to our backers and fans in the best state possible.
- The Mighty No. 9 Team
While I'd rather have a finished game than a broken one this is still a little aggravating given all the drama Mighty No. 9 has been through thus far. I can only hope this means more time is spent polishing things. They could also use this time to offer physical console copies to the backers in some way but I doubt that's going to happen.

Unfortunately this is going to upset a lot of folks, and if the reaction to Red Ash is any indication people are already feeling antsy about Inafune's ability to deliver.

Also I wonder what's up with the surveys. Only half? That's a lot of people who haven't filled them out.

That's pretty lousy, but at least they broke the news that way first, not that it's much of a consolation. It makes me wonder if the lack of interest in the survey has a tie into his other project not being funded. People are mad and getting madder at his approach to funding, publishing, and not delivering too.

It'd be far worse to release a broken product.

Also, people's expectations are often too high. Stuff happens. Particularly with software development. There's not a sort of linear curve where you can give rock-solid estimates. You hit certain bugs, and they're hard to figure out. You could find the problem almost immediately, or it could be something that takes weeks to fix... if ever!

I wish folks had a little more grasp as to what goes into this. I mean, I'm not a game dev, but I figure the difficulty is orders of magnitude over the sort of data / image processing stuff that I do.

I got used to this back in the day with Blizzard games. After having to wait years for certain things...eh, oh well. Release the game when it is in a finished state. I'd rather wait a little longer for a completed project than play a buggy one that I wouldn't be able to enjoy.

I fine with something coming out right instead of coming out broken and using people as paid guinea pigs. It's a huge thing that has turned me off buying many this(and last) generation console games. If it hits in 2016 personally I would prefer it since I want the 3DS game, and I want that little game card not needing band-aids. I'm speaking more in generalities of pissed off people feeling promises were broken, delays, baiting for a 2nd project that blew up in their faces (probably rage ignoring by people angry over stuff.)

People who care about Mega Man Legends probably care about Mega Man, but the reverse isn't necessarily true.

Old news now, but it looks like backers will be getting a trial version on the planned September 15th release date which includes four complete levels.

Apparently the delayed release is due problems with the multiplayer. Personally I don't think they needed to do something like this but it was probably a good move given how many people were reacting.
