I once had a Quizno's sub. Once.
Is Quizno's still around? The closest one near me used to be a few miles away, and when I googled it there's one around, but over a hundred miles away.
Are they folding like an envelope, or do people still eat Quizno's?
What are you eating?

Re: What are you eating?
In the mid 2000s Quiznos ran a series of ads with odd talking chipmunks things and introduced a pepper bar:
Shortly after they started a massive slide (over half) in marketshare in the Southeast and California. Alot of Quzinos in the southeast closed down and subway slid in. They only started to come back around a couple years ago. Ontop of that they competed with a "premium*" product head to head vs a company that cuts costs (product and franchise) like no other.
*premium compared to Subway

Re: What are you eating?
The only reason I ate their once was to try a "Premium Sub". *hint hint* You can find premium subs at Jersey Mikes!
I found Quizno's to be inferior to Subway, which says a lot.
Funny the things you remember. I had a roast beef sub with horseradish and a smidgen of all the vegetable toppings. None of the vegetables tasted fresh. The tomatoes were definitely canned diced tomatoes, and I know because I asked. None of their "cheeses" were actual cheese. All processed junk. And even with all the toppings and horseradish, it tasted like a bread sandwich.
One place that was incredible but now gone is my local Schotlzikis. Greenville had the most profitable location, yet it was sold. The Reuben they served may be the best I've ever had. I've also been to some piss poor Scholtzkis, but our restaurant was terrific. The food was great, the workers were perky, and the prices didn't leave you with empty pockets.
Plus a full sandwich was enough for lunch and dinner.

Jersey Mikes has been around for a very long time, but did not really branch out country wide until after Quiznos started sliding. Personally I love Larrys, but the closest one to me is in either Lexington SC or Tallahassee FL.

I'm surprised Jersey Mike's hasn't branched out. Perfect for college kids, perfect for a business lunch.
Never tried Larry's, nor have I heard about it.
I need a good reuben. It's one of the few sandwiches I will pay someone else to make because of economies of scale.
Loaf of Rye: $4
Bottle of Russian Dressing: $3
1/2 lb. of swiss: $4
1 lb of corned beef: $14
Can of Kraut: $1
That's nearly thirty bucks for two sandwiches and a lot of left over bread.

Velveeta Shells and Cheese are a great meal for those days you don't feel like expending any effort whatsoever.

A sandwich containing No Bull Beer Cheese Spread on rye with smoked turkey from my neighbor who is trying new brines and stuffings. I found out recently that he is a former competition smoker for pork, but cant lift the carcasses anymore so has moved into turkeys.
