Tanooki, it isn't really nice to call other forum members "naive kids". Try to be a better community member, mmmmkay?

One of the joyful things about the WiiU is being able to play Wii games over an HDMI connection. There's no upscaling (of course) but the sound and images are so clean compared to simple component cables.

There's been a few games I've been re-visiting on the WiiU this year that have struck me as being greatly improved by the new media. This summer it was Metroid Prime. Having the sound go out over HDMI and then to my surround sound system made Tallon IV come alive. Right now I'm playing through Twilight Princess and the visuals over HDMI are absolutely incredible compared to the muddy game I remember playing back in 2006 on an SD standard screen.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I actually thought it looked fairly all right, from Itagaki's nico live-stream, but good luck.

Hey, I've only completed the first mission so far, but Devil's Third is actually... not bad. Not bad at all.

...Because there isn't? Wii games on WiiU are played through a virtual Wii. Even though it pulls its A/V settings from the WiiU, it can't render graphics that are better than the original hardware.

and that's why it is upscaled, I think you may be confused on what upscaling means.

I've only used the vWii a few times... Does it upscale to whatever the U's settings are? Or does it just use the Wii's native 480p?

Far as I know it uses the Wii U settings, since it's still using the video encoder - same reason it can pipe the video to the Gamepad screen. It can't actually control it once you swap over to Wii mode (which is why you have to set if you want Gamepad video before it reboots), but the hardware is still running.
