You could have brought that to my attention when I was a teenager!

Well, I guess you couldn't.

Whenever my old college roommate visits, the first thing he does is check my freezer for pucks. For as long as I can remember I've kept around a half dozen pucks in the freezer for reasons even unknown to me*. He'll check the freezer, nod, and say something like "Just as I thought".

*Well, for one, hockey pucks on a desk or on display is weird to me. I have plenty of hockey memorabilia proudly on display in my house, but pucks are meant to stay in the freezer, even if signed or caught.

So while browsing eBay, I happened upon one of my dream computers: the Yamaha CX5M, an early computer designed for electronic musicians with a built-in synthesizer and MIDI compatibility. I almost bought it on impulse but did some research and found out that it's the original model which DOESN'T ACTUALLY HAVE FULL MIDI SUPPORT. Apparently that original model's "MIDI" compatibility only really works with a proprietary keyboard and its most useful function was editing sounds in a Yamaha DX7.
SOMEDAY I hope to find the later model.

Also it's an MSX machine, which means I'm pretty sure I could play 1980s Japanese video games on it!

So, you'd never have guessed it, but my house is way more roomy when half of my crap is in my dad's garage
I'm looking to put my house on the market soon and move into a nicer house in the suburbs, so I'm making it more presentable. Regrettably, this involves turning my game room into the dining room any normal person would have it be (which means moving the bookcases, the tv stand that can hold the tube tv, and said absurdly heavy tv into dad's garage, and the dining room table that's been in my basement since I moved into here actually into the room -- gorgeous table. But no seriously, 36" trinitron. 225lbs. Zero handholds. Dear god). Less regrettably, it also means taking the chair out of the living room (my idea) as well as the love seat (the realtor's idea)... but man, this living room is bizarrely empty in my eyes.

The project cabinet is now in my garage, awaiting it being listed on craigslist because I've decided I would rather buy a j-pac and just attach a computer to a candy cab rather than completely hack it myself... and bizarrely enough, my realtor said the Neo cab would be fine staying where it is. So I'm pretty good until it's actual moving time and other than MAAAAYBE the Neo cab (which I can use a dolly for), I don't have a single damn thing that weighs anywhere NEAR what that TV did.
Edit: Tags work better when you remember to close them. It's been a long day.

My current game room was also the previous owner's "man cave" which is kinda cool.

That's pretty cool. I told the realtor my main requirement was a large den/finished basement/man cave to turn into an arcade... but my current house isn't huge and has none of those things, and for the average person a dining room is definitely more appealing.

As much as you try to avoid it, something in your damn house is finally next-gen.

So for the past several months my daughter has been talking about something called a "creecraw." I could never figure out what she meant. I'd ask her questions and she'd answer in the typical semi-coherent toddler fashion. Eventually I figured that it may just be an imaginary friend/object or whatever, or just some nonsense she perpetually brought up because she figured I would react to it.

Anyway, yesterday I figured it out. "Creecraw" is just a horrible pronunciation of "chrysalis." Mystery solved!!!!

Now she wants to play Phantasy Star.

That's what he meant. They have those in Maine, but they really aren't as bad as the black flies.
