i dont know the connector on the DVI side if its Female or Male and will fit my PC's graphics card.
and it says in the description of the product it is video transmission only , should i get a Digital Optical cable too or the description is wrong and DVI cables can carry audio along with video
DVI to HDMI Cable , a couple of questions
Re: DVI to HDMI Cable , a couple of questions
HDMI is pretty much DVI-D with audio being carried as well, so DVI does not carry audio, only video.
The input port is always female (no pins) on GPU's / TV's, etc. So you would want a Male HDMI > Male DVI-D.
If your graphics card only outputs DVI-D, you can pick up little dongles (they come with most GPU's) that converts DVI-D to HDMI (so you can plug a HDMI cable into your graphics card). You could most likely pick one up for a few bucks, or check your graphics card box, one might be in there already.

I got a DVI-HDMI cable from Monoprice.com for my desktop PC. It only carries the video signal, so an audio solution would be needed.

Really? No sound when hooked up to a compatible system?
edit: Oh, DVI to HDMI. No digital support in DVI so sound gets dumped... The pass-throughs from Monoprice with breakout sound would fix that problem and are very cheap. Might have some problems on certain systems with the HDCP (Copyright) but it would allow you to feed the audio into a sound system easily.
