I keep her on the back row and pump her magic and agility points. She acts as the healer for all the front row tanks.

Also she's my waifu and I'm lovin' that leather.

DRPGs in all flavors seem to reward a very specific mentality to playing them. It took me butting my head against Strange Journey for about 20 hours or so before it "clicked" and I understood how to play and enjoy these types of games. I never beat Strange Journey mind you. No matter what they can be incredibly difficult but paying close attention to the tutorials and battle mechanics, as well as minding the slow progressive nature of them, tend to make life a whole lot easier. Modern ones also seem to be far more fair.

My least favorite part of these games tends to be the lack of real interesting story and characters - plus usually very basic visual design. That's why Persona Q and now EO: Untold 2 have really grabbed my attention.

With that said; how is Soul Hackers? The basics of the story sound really rather cool and I think it's fascinating that we got a seemingly stellar Japanese only Saturn game on the 3DS.

Yeah, the game is definitely from the era of maxing agility and whatever your attack stat is (str or mag).

I've only got four hours in it so far, but I have legit enjoyed every minute. It's got a very robust story actually, much more deep than say Nocturne's or Untold's was. Lots of characters, and 95% of the game has full voice acting. This game is very 90s though, but in ways that I nostalgically appreciate. I mean in the way it views the potential of the internet, neopunk fashion, and its cyberpunk flair. The battle engine and demon fusing systems are complex enough to support a variety of strategies. I don't want to give too much away, but I absolutely recommend this game to any DRPG fan based on what I've played so far.

This was not only a Saturn game in Japan though, it also got a Playstation port in Japan. Atlus tried to bring it here when it did, but SCEA wouldn't let them.

I don't know how the 3DS became such a DRPG machine but I am sure glad that it happened!

I'm guessing he means Dungeon RPG, like Wizardry?

That is also what I usually call them. Then again, I have heard that term used to describe Diablo as well, so what do I know?

I just used DRPG because others in the thread had before and I didn't want to rock the boat.
