Burning PS1 games without IMGBurn...

Post by REPO Man »

or any other software that doesn't have malware out the ass.

I recently used IMGBurn and after updating my computer started BSODing and then my drive seemed to not be there, according to the computer. At least not until after I uninstalled the program and restarted.

And I really want to be able to burn PS1 games again, preferably with freeware software.

Did you reinstall Windows after your upgrade? It is most likely a permissions conflicting causing the drive to vanish. Here are a couple options.

Easier Option
Download and install the trial version of CloneDVD from http://www.slysoft.com/en/, this will install a dvd driver that does not need admin access to run. Once installed go into IMGBurn settings and select TOOLS then input outputs, select "ELBYCDIO" as the driver to use.

This should solve your issues.

Manual Option

Try going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options, then on the right hand panel select Devices: "Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on user only and enable it.

Restart you PC and hopefully your drive is visible and IMGBurn works without any issues.

Don't have a disc when I bought my laptop. I was supposed to make a backup disc but I kept putting it off.

I updated my post with two ways I think should fix the issue you will be having if you did not do a fresh install after the upgrade.

Yeah. I don't wanna risk anything with IMGBurn.

So I guess I should ask whether or not the latest version of Alcohol 120% has malware.

 The biggest flaw of any new PC, no Windows Install and no proprietary Driver PRESSED discs included
Jump on the critical System Install Discs right away and also burn the important separate add on Drivers disc unique to your PC. A good idea to test run the DVDR/CDR discs you created before your PC might have a boot error.

IMBGBurn is safe (just disable anything unwanted during the setup). I use 2.5.8.0 since ages without a single problem.

Yea, I've never had issues with IMGburn, of course I'm still using a version from last year.
