Protip: If you want to come across as not sounding like a jerk, using phrases like "is your gerbil on the wheel" is probably not the best way to do it. It sounds... Trump-esque. I don't disagree that much of what he has done is driven by ego and money. I just question whether everything he does is about ego and money. I think it's entirely possible that his candidacy is a distinct combination of all three. Concern for the country coupled with an ego that says he's the guy to fix it, and he potentially benefits monetarily, or just gets to brag about all the money he has and that he can't be paid off.

Sanders is an outright socialist, so if that's your preference, then yeah, he's your guy. But I have a lot of respect for him in that he's never hidden what he believes in. He's probably a guy I would trust, I just don't agree with him.

As a Democrat, I couldn't be happier with Trump's success. I wish him the nomination or, even better, a strong third-party candidacy.

Why in the world would we want a man who can't stand up to two rowdy nobodies in charge of the entire country? He can't even keep control of his own stage.

He projects himself as the weakest man on earth, and he's supposed to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate? Even Hillary has more balls than this guy.

I see that event as getting spun two ways.

The Pro-Bernie crowd will portray it as him not wanting to put down people clearly upset by events going on in their country, particularly as he agrees with them.

The anti-Bernie crowd will call him a coward for not standing up for himself and establishing his own beliefs in the face of adversity.

Take it how you will, it was an awkward situation.

I thought about substituting "gerbil" with "hamster" but found gerbils to be cuter.

Not sure what the best way of not sounding like a jerk would be, but asking someone if they've thought out all actions possible while also including a common metaphor of a gerbil on a wheel seems perfectly fine and non-jerky.
