Not gonna lie, the roadside fried shrimp and blueberries up there are amazing, but there is a distinct lack of chicken and waffles that far north. I don't think so.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Ack is moving to Maine.

They make up for it with soft-shell lobster, Moxie, fiddleheads, Allen's Coffee Brandy, whoopie pies, maple syrup, and some remarkably good, dry blueberry wine. I love Maine food, and I always eat way too much whenever I visit.Ack wrote:Not gonna lie, the roadside fried shrimp and blueberries up there are amazing, but there is a distinct lack of chicken and waffles that far north. There's a golden opportunity for you. Get out of the library sciences game and open the first Chicken and Waffle joint in Maine.Ack wrote:Not gonna lie, the roadside fried shrimp and blueberries up there are amazing, but there is a distinct lack of chicken and waffles that far north. Unemployment should be a breeze if your Mother applies online. Help her out if possible and it's super simple data entry.Ack wrote:Yeah...
I come off strong, but I really don't "hate" the use of, or misuse of words. If someone said "Zelda is literally epic", I'd feel like someone pulled one of my nose hairs and it would be over.
Move to Maine. Epic Win.

My wife and I have considered this. We thin good, authentic Southern cuisine by someone who knows how to prepare it would be a hit up there. We think a "southern hippie breakfast" place - like Asheville's Sunnyside Cafe or Atlanta's Flying Biscuit - would be a huge hit. Neither of us know how to (or particularly want to) run a restaurant.MrPopo wrote:There's a golden opportunity for you. Oh, I know, but down here we get grits, sorghum, collards, a variety of styles of barbecue, hushpuppies, succotash, okra, fried green tomatoes, moon pies, chess pie, sweet tea, cornbread, biscuits and tomato gravy, peach cobbler, pecans, pecan pie, key lime pie, fried alligator, banana pudding, chicken and dumplings, crawdads, chit'lins, all of creole cooking... I'm happy to stay down here.prfsnl_gmr wrote:They make up for it with soft-shell lobster, Moxie, fiddleheads, Allen's Coffee Brandy, whoopie pies, maple syrup, and some remarkably good, dry blueberry wine. I won't lie, I thought Maine was an absolutely gorgeous place when I visited it, and I would love to visit it again sometime. But if I moved from Atlanta, it would probably be to another major city for work. Maine doesn't exactly have much of my current industry.

Well, don't know if I'll enjoy my trip next week, but it sounds like I'll eat well.prfsnl_gmr wrote:They make up for it with soft-shell lobster, Moxie, fiddleheads, Allen's Coffee Brandy, whoopie pies, maple syrup, and some remarkably good, dry blueberry wine. I'm kidding. I'm sure I'll have a good time. The mere fact that it doesn't feel like 105 degrees up there is reason enough to celebrate.
