Genesis 2 s video mod, dark picture when I connect...

Hello guys

Today I did a S-video mod to a genesis 2 with the CXA1145M sony chip...

All seemed to work just fine, clear bright picture, etc... Until I connected the Audio...as soon as I connect the white and red cables to my tv, the picture gets darker




The pictures are bad, but you can see in the background the difference in brightness.

I don't know what to do, can anyone help me?

There's a few different circuits floating around out there to add S-Video with the 1145. Which one did you use? I tried a couple for the 1145, and this is the one that I found to work the best.

I made a schematic of it so it's easier to view.

The NTE85 transistor is impossible to find. I used a BC184L. I also used a 33ohm resistor instead of 27ohm.

Does your problem exist on more than one TV?

It looks like there is not enough ground to also carry audio. Solder another ground wire from the PCB to the Cable.

Serge, did you add audio jacks along with an S-Video jack? Or are you just getting audio from the multi AV output (with composite AV cables)?

If you added audio jacks, this is the common type:



You have to bend the "washer" so you can solder a ground wire to it.

And I'm assuming you ground the S-Video pins (the bottoms pins - the two further apart). You can just tie all the grounds to a single point, like the middle pin of the voltage regulator.
